They landed with a thud against the ground, the fresh scent of pine mingling with the sharp tang of ozone. Tyler blinked, dazed by the sudden shift from the oppressive atmosphere of his father's pack to the serene solitude of a nearby clearing. The moon hung low, framing Tristian in ethereal light, his expression a mix of triumph and delight, but there was something dangerously alluring in his eyes that sent a jolt through Tyler's system.
"Welcome to my world—or what few would dare let it be..," Tristian started before trailing off.
The sound of vomiting rang through the woods of North Carolina as Tyler spewed his guts.
"It'll be okay, you'll get used to teleporting." Tristian replied, trying not to laugh at poor Tyler, looking as green as the leaves he was now puking on.
"I don't think that i'll ever get used to that." he retorted as he wiped his mouth with the back of his forearm.
"Next time, maybe a warning before you just... whisk me away?" Tyler managed, his voice still shaky as he leaned against a nearby tree for support.
Tristian chuckled softly, his emerald eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, but where's the fun in that? You've got to embrace the chaos, Tyler."
"Embrace the chaos?" Tyler echoed incredulously. His stomach was finally settling, but the thought of what might be ahead made his heart race. "I'm not sure chaos is what I need right now."
"Believe me, it's exactly what you need," Tristian insisted, stepping closer. "Every great journey begins with a little discomfort. Besides, haven't you felt more alive since we met?"
A flicker of something warm shot through Tyler at those words, and he swallowed hard. "Yeah, but alive doesn't mean I should let a stranger me take me to an unknown location in the woods"-
"Where are we anyway?" he asked as he looked around, hearing the black crows caw.
"We're just outside my coven." Tristian said with spite in his tone.
Tyler straightened himself, brushing off the evidence of his earlier nausea. "Great, so we're in the land of the witches. Fantastic. How do I not get killed just by being here?"
Tristian leaned against a tree, crossing his arms with a smirk. "You think they would dare harm the Alpha's son? Besides, you're with me. Just focus on staying low. I don't plan on being here long anyway, we just have to get something."
Tyler raised an eyebrow, skepticism swirling in his chest. "So, you expect me to just trust you? You do realize you're still a total stranger, right?"
A shadow crossed Tristian's face as his tone turned more serious. "You may not know me fully, Tyler, but I promise I have your best interests at heart. I plan to use this time to help you embrace your true self, not just for my own gain."
Tyler sighed, rubbing the back of his neck, feeling the weight of uncertainty. "I appreciate that, I really do. But you have to admit, it's a little difficult to trust someone when I've just been used and judged my whole life."
"You think I don't know about judgment?" Tristian shot back, eyes narrowing. "I've faced derision from my own coven simply for existing as a witch, just as you have with your pack. We're not so different, you and I."
Tyler met Tristian's gaze, the shared understanding weaving an unexpected bond between them. Tyler nodded looking at Tristan, something different in his eyes, hurt maybe? Tyler didn't know but it made him feel almost bad. Tyler could feel his wolf also feeling bad, almost as if his wolf was upset about Tristian's sadness and screamed to protect him.
"Look, I didn't mean to assume," Tyler said, his voice softening. "It's just... it's hard to wrap my head around all of this. You and I, we seem like opposites."
