N POV

We arrived at the mall and just as we got out of the car...

"...MOM??" Uzi yelled as we got out of the car

My eyes turned hollow

She put it on speaker but all we could hear was static

"...m-mom? You're alive?" Uzi questioned, looking like her whole life had been a lie

It immediately hung up, not a word was said in that moment

Suddenly, Uzi bust into tears, putting her hands on her visor

I turned towards her, my eyes still hollow. I hugged Uzi, guiding her to sit down on the curb

"h-how?" She managed to get out

"I-...I don't know" I tried

Out of nowhere, she got up and wiped away her tears

"Never -sniff- mind that, this day was supposed to be for you. For us. Let's just forget about it" she said, barely able to not burst into tears, as she grabbed my hand and started towards the entrance

"No Uzi, it's not-" I tried to say but she cut me off

"No, really N. It's fine!" She said smiling, yet I don't know if it was a real one

Her mom had been dead for years. I didn't know what to do

She seemed sensitive about it, so I just kept quiet and tried to help her forget about it

We walked up to the entrance, she was still holding my hand, not wanting to let go

I nudged her and she let go

But in seconds she grabbed my hand again, intertwining our fingers

I blushed, not knowing what to do, so I squeezed back

We walked inside and immediately Uzi saw a store she wanted to go to, it said "Hot topic"

Right as we were about to go in there, someone interrupted us

"Sup, loser." A female voice sizzled

"Oh no" Uzi sighed

"Oh yes~" the female responded

I knew that voice, I've heard it lots of times

"Lizzy" I said, rolling my eyes

"Is this your little boyfriend, freak?" Lizzy scowled

"No-" Uzi started but I cut her off

"What if I am?" I said trying to defend her

Lizzy and her team started laughing

"Your dating her?" Lizzy said almost bursting out laughing

"N!-" Uzi started again but I cut her off once more

"At least she can pull someone, unlike you." I said to Lizzy, crossing my arms

She immediately froze, her eyes went hollow

Lizzy stuttered a few times but walked away after a while

"N you didn't have to do that." Uzi said blushing.

"You're right. I didn't have to, but I wanted to~" I said in a sing song voice

"Thanks N, I will admit, standing up to lizzy once in awhile feels pretty nice" Uzi thanked me
