Interviewer: Hello, Mr. Styles.
Harry Styles: Call me Harry. S'a pleasure to meet you.
Interviewer: Likewise. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today.
Harry Styles: [laughter] It wouldn't seem like I've got much else to do.
Interviewer: Right. You've quit music.
Harry Styles: I have.
Interviewer: We'll jump into that a little bit later. How are you feeling?
Harry Styles: Hmm... like the crack of the spine in the morning. The shattering of porcelain and the ripening of an orange in the sun. Like every historical theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre. Yourself?
Interviewer: Very descriptive.
Harry Styles: I'm a songwriter—well, was.
Interviewer: One who has had an arguably tumultuous career, wouldn't you agree?
Harry Styles: [pauses] I don't know that anyone's life is a straight road.
Interviewer: Definitely not. You keep your personal life private and you're renowned for rejecting interviews, but you reached out to us for this one. What changed?
Harry Styles: I'm afraid I haven't been very honest. With myself, with the world. I think it's time to set the record straight about who I really am.
Interviewer: Interesting. If I'm not mistaken, you not so long ago had a very big cover story in Rolling Stone.
Harry Styles: I did.
Interviewer: Written by someone we can assume is very special to you?
Harry Styles: [pauses] Yes.
Interviewer: That article made the world fall in love with you all over again. Her impression of you rubbed off onto the rest of us. So, are you suggesting that what was written was incorrect?
Harry Styles: Incomplete. It was incomplete. Sometimes, angels masqueraded as people come into your life, and for whatever reason, they mistake you for an angel too. I suppose that's what happened. The Rolling Stone article was portraying one side of me, the rose-tinted side. But I want to tell the truth.
Interviewer: Well, I have to say Harry, this is going to be very interesting. Exciting for the fans.
Harry Styles: Maybe... More than anything, I hope this brings clarity to Elodie and Beau. That's why I'm doing this, for them. So, when they're older and they want answers, they can refer to this. Hear everything directly from me.
Interviewer: You don't think you'll be around to tell them?
Harry Styles: Maybe, maybe not. Life is unpredictable. I hope I am around. I love my babies more than anything in the world. I'd do anything for them.
Interviewer: My apologises for not asking sooner, then. How are they doing?
Harry Styles: Well, I hope.
Interviewer: And if you had a message for them right now to look back on when they're older, what would it be?
Harry Styles: Forgive me.
Interviewer: Sorry?
Harry Styles: I'd ask them to forgive me. Are you ready to hear the truth now?
Interviewer: Ready whenever you are.
Harry Styles: [clears throat carefully] I—
