       (3rd person POV)

Ash Ketchum hated the rain. Rain was gloomy, ruined his happy attitude and made walking to and from school an absolute nightmare. Of course, it rained on his first day of senior year. His mother always left for work before Ash was even awake, and his father had really never been around, so Ash's only way to school was by foot. Not that he minded, it was usually refreshing to take a walk. However, when it rained, the puddles would accumulate in the streets and would become major obstacles in his way to school, soaking his shoes. At least, Ash usually had Dawn chatting off his right ear, but today, she'd been late and couldn't walk with Ash. So, Ash was alone, soaked and miserable. Fun.

Pallet Town was a minuscule town in the state of Kanto, with only 10,000 citizens, and 2,000 students. The only grocery stores in town were the Delia's Supermarket (his mother owned that) and the Farmers Market. Online shipping took weeks to arrive, and the nearest mall was an hour away. However small and remote Pallet Town may have been, its residents were happy and contented with their lives. Ash Ketchum was a resident of this small town, and while Ash was usually happy with this, today, he wished he lived anywhere else. The unfinished sidewalks had so many damn crevices that there was barely an area without puddles. He had to jump over each one and hope to land on solid earth. The few traffic lights in the town made it even more difficult, as crossing the street was like trying come from hell and back.  So when Ash leaped over his final puddle and made it to the entrance of Pallet Town high school, he breathed a sigh of relief and walked to the entrance.

Trudging through the halls, Ash found himself completely lost. Even after 4 years, he was still unable to find the room E138, where his schedule said was his first period class. Usually, he had Dawn leading him around, being somewhat more successful in finding a classroom slightly on time. However, without her, Ash was (admittedly) helpless in the aspect of navigation. Luckily, Ash had come to school a bit early, so he had more time to hopelessly wander around until he found the classroom (which never ended up well). Wading through the murk of endless students and bodies while scanning the room numbers, he bumped into someone.

"Sorry!" Ash yelped, before he looked up. Fuck. Serena had bumped into to him.

Serena was the most popular girl in school. Captain of the cheer team and pretty(kind of), she easily rised through the ranks of popularity and dominated it. Everyone thought that she and Ash were meant to be, like a fairytale match. Ash, however, didn't see her like that and hoped she would get the memo. She, of course, didn't. Every week, she tried to hint at a date, hold his hand or swing her arms around his shoulder. It was getting terribly annoying, and as oblivious as he was to love, he was not this oblivious. Seeing her again make him want to die in a hole in the ground and never return (me core😔✊).

Serena had cut her long hair short, a short bob the fell to her shoulders. She wore a tight blouse with a heart embroidered on the front, and pair of too short shorts. She would have been so much more pretty if she didn't cake her face with too much makeup, looking like one of those old ladies with too much powder and too much lipstick. But, Serena was never one for judgement. With her popularity, she would crush anyone who opposed her or judged her. And Ash had more important things to worry about. So he avoided her and her personality. Unfortunately, today he had to face her again.

"Ash! I missed you! You look good today," Serena said, giving her puppy dog eyes that made any other guy swoon. Ash was not any other guy though, and didn't make eye contact.

"Yeah, I missed you too. Would you happen to know where E138 is?" Ash said, hoping to get a clear answer and not be late to his first class as a senior, and to keep it short and sweet with her.

Serena looked like she would have died of joy. "Ash, we have the same class! Let me see your schedule," Ash reluctantly handed it over, not wanting to make any argument. Serena snatched it from his hands and looked through it. Her face brightened up like a lightbulb.

"Ash, we have all the same classes! Is that great?" Serena practically chirped, her voice full of happiness. Ash, for one, was not happy. First, it was pouring, now he had to deal with this bitch. Woohoo. First day material.

"Yep, now let's get going, shall we?" Ash said, just wanting to get to class. Serena sighed and put her arms around his shoulders. Ash bit back the urge to shrug her arms off. This was going to be a long year.

Note: And that's the first chapter! This will be one of the only chapters in third person, I just wanted this to be more introductory. I suck at dialogue, so this may seem awkward rn, sorry. Let me know any ships you want in the future! I'll be working on the second chapter right now, so maybe tmrw I'll post it. All constructive criticism and comments appreciated! Thanks for reading ✌️ toodles!
