On a Thursday afternoon, Rosanne Lockhart, a twenty seven year old lonely woman who resided in Brooklyn New York, sat on her red velvet couch that was placed in her living room, near a wall with a window. She had been staring out of her living room window for at least four hours, watching life outside of her house go on, while she did nothing.
All that could be heard was the peal of thunder, and rain splashing against the outside of the window right in front of her. As she looked out of her window, she admired the streetlights reflections on the roads that were coated with rain. As she did so, random thoughts roamed her mind, she pondered her existence, as she always did when there was nothing else for her to do.
She would always wonder why she could never find a kind, loving man to spend the rest of her days with. She felt as if she was worthless, and would always say to herself that she'd never find the one that is truly meant for her.
For Rosanne, it was a challenge to find the right person, she'd been through so many relationships in her entire lifetime, and each one ended the same way. They would always run away, leaving her to wallow in her tears and misery, not caring how she felt. Rosanne was on the verge of ending it all, it was as if it was nearly impossible to find true love. Her hope had ran out, and she was done, tired of everything.
She used her eyes to trace the droplets of rain slowly sliding down the outside of her window, she saw a dark shadowy figure in her peripheral vision. It seemed to be a man, but it wasn't until he walked past the bottom of her doorstep that she could identify what he looked like. He was walking pretty slow, and he looked mysterious in a way. Rosanne was into strange mysterious men, even if people said it wasn't really safe to be that way.
He had on a long sandy brown coat, and a dark brown fedora sat atop his head. His face wasn't visible but in Rosanne's mind she pictured him to be quite handsome. Maybe it was just her being desperate, but she had the urge to get up and introduce herself to him. She needed to hurry before he reached the end of the street.
She hopped up off of the couch, nearly tipping over because of how long she had been sitting down for, and quickly made her way to the bathroom which was right across from her living room, to quickly freshen up.
After about thirty seconds she ran out of her bathroom, bumping into her coffee table and tripping over her own feet. She laid there on the floor for a couple of seconds trying to process the fall. "Wow Ro, what a great way to start the night." She grunted whispering to herself as she got up, dusting herself off. Quickly looking out of the window, she saw the guy reaching the end of the street, she huffed and made her way out of her front door in hopes to catch up to him. Her being the clumsy person she is, while making her way towards him she almost tripped on a piece of trash, but she caught herself and played it cool. She began rushing towards him but was cautious because she didn't want to startle him. She was able to do so, but kept herself at least five feet away from him just in case he was a masked murderer.
"Hello stranger. Isn't it a bit odd to be wandering around alone during a thunderstorm?" Said Rosanne, smiling softly, slowly approaching the guy. The mysterious man slowly turned around, facing Rosanne. A smile formed across his face, but his eyes were still hidden by his fedora. The man went on to respond to her, "I could ask you the same thing, what's a fine young lady as yourself doing out here in the freezing cold?"
Rosanne let out a small giggle, she blushed a bit since the guys voice was fairly deep and slightly raspy. She found it highly attractive. "Oh y'know, just going on a quick stroll. Trying to chase some strangers that have no interest in me." She said in a soft sarcastic tone, trying to seek some attention from him. The man shook his head, "You should be careful, you never know what kind of insane freaks could be walking down the streets of Brooklyn." The guy tilted his hat up a little and revealed his dark blue eyes, "Wowza..., your eyes are as deep as the Atlantic Ocean, so serene... and mesmerizing." Rosanne mumbled, not realizing that she was speaking out loud.
"Why thank you, uh do you mind if we go some place y'know... dry and warm? You could catch a cold, wouldn't want that happening, am I right?" The man said in a sweet tone, wanting the both of them to get out of the rain. "Oh right! It's raining isn't it? Okay well, I know this may seem a bit weird being that we just met but, do you want to come inside for coffee or something?" Rosanne asked, hoping he'd accept her offer. The man sighed softly, "espresso?" Rosanne furrowed her eyebrows, looked at him with a small smile on her face and nodded, "espresso." They both smiled from ear to ear as Rosanne led him to her house.
