They walked inside of her small house, soaked in rainwater. Rosanne offered to take his belongings, the man kept his fedora so she put up his coat. She then pulled him by his hand to sit down on the couch, then went into her kitchen to start the coffee.
The man decided to follow her into her kitchen, "So, I'm standing in the middle of your house, I think I deserve to know your name." Said the man in a playful tone, it wasn't the first time he had been invited into a strangers home, but he felt she didn't need to know that.
"I'm sorry, how rude of me. My name is Rosanne, I was named after my grandmother... if you care about that. But you can call me Ro, or whatever you want. What's your name?" The man chuckled under his breath, "Well Ro, do you really want to know my name? I mean it's kinda different." Rosanne sighed, turning around towards him, leaning on her counter, "Oh come on, I bet it's something hot and unique, just like you." She said smiling softly, nibbling on her bottom lip. Rosanne was basically thirsting over him, but couldn't be bothered to hide it. "It's Klaus." The man said effortlessly, in a chill tone. Rosanne's eyes widened a bit, "Klaus? I knew you had a hot name!" She exclaimed, surprised by his name being so attractive.
As she handed him the cup filled with a couple of shots of espresso, she led him back into the living room, sitting on the couch that she had been lounging around on all day. "Espresso is why I live, it's why I breathe." Klaus laughed playfully. She smiled and patted the spot next to her to let him know that he could sit down. "What am I, a dog?" He said jokingly, sitting down next to her. They both laughed, Rosanne liked that he had a small sense of humor. So far, she was really attracted to him and he was almost everything she looked for in a man.
Rosanne turned on the stereo, a couple of old songs played as the minutes passed. Rosanne got up and held out her hand, inviting Klaus to dance. "C'mon show me your moves, I know you've got some!" She said in a happy tone. Klaus got up and danced with her. It was almost as if the world stopped for a moment, all they could think about was each other. While dancing they smiled and shared a couple of laughs, they grew to like each other more and more. After a while they sat back on the couch and caught their breath from all of the dancing they did.
Not being able to restrain herself from looking at him, Rosanne looked deeply into Klaus' eyes. "How does one have such beautiful eyes?" She whispered, she found herself getting lost in his eyes. Klaus heard her and responded with, "Why are you taking thoughts from my head, I was just about to ask the same thing. It's very rare to meet a stranger as beautiful as you." Rosanne giggled and slightly tilted her head to the right. "Thank you for this, I haven't talked to anyone like you in a very long time. It feels like it's been centuries. I needed this, and call me crazy but, I feel like I need you." At the moment, Rosanne let her mind talk for her. She wasn't paying attention to what she was saying but she thought it felt right.
Klaus leaned in towards her and pressed a soft kiss on her lips. Rosanne jolted back, scared to let things go on any further. "I'm sorry, I'm just- it's just that things always go south after this point." Rosanne had a small flashback as their lips touched, it was of one of her past relationships. One that was very abusive and tragic.
"How could I be so dumb, so naive to let another man take my heart, just to break it." Those words flew out of her mouth as tears began rolling down her cheeks. Klaus stared at her with a blank face, no expression at all. "What did I do?" He asked curiously, feeling bad.
"You're better off leaving." She mumbled, feeling her body slowly become numb to all of the feelings she felt. "Well, I can't just leave you here alone, not like this. Who knows what you'll do to yourself. I'm not going to leave you here. Tell me what's going on." Klaus said, not wanting to leave her, he was actually developing strong feelings for her. "I don't deserve you, not right now. I'm sorry." Rosanne whispered, in a broken tone.
Five minutes later a knife was pressed against her chest, the knife was in the hands of her own, he wanted to leave but couldn't leave her there because he knew what she would do to herself. He wasn't going to allow her to do anything life threatening. He was dealing with demons of his own, and he needed someone to love too. Rosanne made him feel happy for the first time in weeks. Seeing her with the knife against her chest made him queasy and uncomfortable and he didn't know what to do, he would try to take the knife away from her but, he couldn't risk her pushing it straight through her chest when she saw him try to stop her.
He decided to reach for the knife but it was too late, it was already halfway in her chest. "RO, NO!" Yelled Klaus, the pain in his voice made his voice crack a little. "Where is the phone? I can call an ambulance, p-please stay with me." Klaus rambled, panicking, trying to get Rosanne to stay as still as possible so that there would be a possibility of saving her. Rosanne fell back against the back of the couch, "I'm sorry Klaus. Please just, push it in more." Klaus shook his head and grabbed the knife, not pulling it out, but just holding it in place. "No I can't let you die, I just met you!" He shouted, he was completely confused and scared. "Please just slice away at my heart so that my mind won't have to." Rosanne mumbled, slowly running out of breath. Klaus began crying, "no, never, please stop. I need you too. Call me crazy, but I love you." Rosanne looked at him and began crying with him, "If you love me then you'll let me go. I deserve this." Klaus neglected the words that came out of her mouth. "But I can't let you go..." he whispered, tears falling out of his eyes. "Klaus, maybe we'll meet again-in another lifetime." Those were Rosanne's last words.
Klaus sobbed and buried his head in her chest, he wanted to spend as much time as he could with her before she was lifeless. The night was a night to remember, and he definitely would not forget it. He loved her, but he knew that he had to let her go.
Nothing lasts forever anyways.
