MADELYN BECKER has always hated horror movies.

She didn't understand how people could feel anxiety, tension, fear and be happy about it. How some people could watch someone being disemboweled and find it somehow comforting.

Her best friend Mindy often teased her that she preferred rom-coms simply because she was a scaredy-cat. But being the stubborn girl she is, Madelyn told Mindy that it wasn't true and to test her by watching a horror movie. Bottom line? The Becker girl didn't take a plane for two years after watching Final Destination.

Okay, maybe Mindy was right. She was indeed a scaredy-cat. But can you blame her?

When you're born and raised in the town known for the murders that inspired the greatest horror franchise of all time, you either love horror or hate it. Madelyn fell into the latter category.

Woodsboro was cursed — or at least that's what the Becker girl was convinced. There was no other way to explain the amount of murder and serial killers spilling out of it.

It all started twenty-six years earlier with the death of Maureen Prescott at the hands of two teenagers later identified as Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. The next year there was the first Woodsboro massacre at the hands of the two, during which five people died, including Madelyn's aunt, Casey Becker.

There were three other massacres: the Windsor College Murders, the Hollywood Murders, and the Second Woodsboro Murders. They all had one thing in common.

Sidney Prescott.

The girl couldn't imagine the pain the woman had gone through over the years and didn't blame her for leaving Woodsboro, because she would have done the same thing.

But now twenty-five years had passed since the first massacre and ten since the last, Woodsboro was no longer in danger and the murders were a thing of the past. Right?

OR

In which, Madelyn Becker and her friends are not only trying to survive high school, but also a mysterious masked killer inspired by the one who killed her aunt twenty-five years earlier.

DISCLAIMERS:

1. I don't own any of the Scream franchise characters or its storylines. However, I do own my original characters and their plots. All credit goes to Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson, James Vanderbilt, Guy Busick and rightful creators of the Scream franchise.

2. English is not my first language, so if you find any errors I apologize in advance.

3. I don't write smut and I'm a sucker for slowburns, so my books are mostly like that. I'm sorry if you can't find what you're looking for in my stories, I hope you guys still give them a chance.

4. In this book some storylines of the characters from the original franchise will be changed to suit my book.

5. Madelyn's love interests will be Chad and Ethan, so there will be moments with both. I have an idea who the endgame will be, but you'll only find out by reading it eheh.

6. The timeline of the franchise is very confusing, for example the events of Scream 5 are set in September 2021. However, when in Scream 6 Kirby talks to Detective Bailey about the past Ghostfaces, it is seen that Amber and Richie died in 2022. Thus, for simplicity's sake, the events of Scream 5 will be set in September 2022.
