HER: We're both trapped, aren't we?"
HIM: "Trapped? I'm not trapped. I'm here because I chose to be."

A/U POV

After getting married, they spent a night in Akash's hometown and then moved to his apartment the following day. They never spoke to each other even once that night.

*in the car moving back to Akash's apartment*

The car ride home was marked by silence, each of them lost in their thoughts. Yashna stared out the window, watching the scenery blur past, her heart as heavy as the gray skies outside. Memories with Aarav were still lingering on her mind.

Yashna POV

I was in the same car, but something felt different. I turned and saw Aarav instead of Akash. I can see his face...so lively. His hands are placed on mine... this feel...  "Aarav?" (so pleased)

A/U POV

As Aarav turned to look at her, the warmth in his eyes faded, and his face grew blurred. She heard the distant sound of screeching tires and felt the weightless pull of the car as it carried off course. Panic surged through her as the memory of that night came flooding back—the night they lost control, the night he slipped away forever. She tried to scream, but the sound was muted, lost in the nightmare. All she could manage was his name: "Aarav..."

Suddenly, she felt herself being shaken."Yashna?! Yashna?!"Her eyes flew open, her heart pounding. She gasped, drawing in a sharp breath as reality snapped back into place.

Yashna POV

"AARAV!!!.."

I was being shaken. "Yashna?!  Yashna?!" I woke up gasping. My heart pounding faster as I snapped back to reality.

"It's a dream... It's a dream" I gulped and told myself trying to catch some breath. And that's when Akash said...

A/U POV

Akash's face was close, his expression a mixture of concern and discomfort. As she woke up he released her shoulder and sat back, clearing his throat as he masked his reaction with a practiced calm. "We've reached home," he said simply, his voice even.

Yashna took a moment to steady herself, her breathing still ragged. She reached for the water bottle in the cup holder, her hands shaking slightly as she drank. The coldness of the water helped bring her back, and she forced herself to meet Akash's gaze, though his expression was unreadable.

She nodded silently, opening the door and stepping out. As she followed Akash toward his apartment, she couldn't shake the lingering fragments of the dream—the warmth of Aarav's touch, the sudden, brutal ending. And she knew that, no matter how far she tried to run, the past would always be waiting, haunting her in the quietest moments.

Yashna POV

As I stepped out of the car, my legs felt shaky, my mind still reeling from the vividness of the dream. Aarav's face lingered, that look in his eyes—so full of life, then gone in an instant. It was just a dream, I reminded myself, but it was a haunting echo of a past I couldn't seem to escape.

A/U POV

Akash held the door open for her without a word, his silence heavy with unspoken questions he chose not to ask. She brushed past him, still reeling from the fragments of a love she had lost, while he remained the cold, silent figure beside her, hiding his scars behind a stoic mask.

Yashna POV

As we reached the door to his apartment, he held it open for me, his eyes barely meeting mine. I glanced at him briefly, curious if he'd say something, offer a word of comfort, or maybe just ask if I was alright. But he said nothing, his face unreadable, locked behind that cold, controlled demeanor. It was almost as if he hadn't noticed a thing, and for some reason, that irritated me.

I walked inside, feeling the weight of my dream pressing against my chest, memories of Aarav's laughter, and the touch of his hand, now faded into a painful emptiness.

"You can freshen up in this room" He showed the master room. I nodded and went in...I leaned against the wall, pressing my eyes shut for a moment, letting the lingering ache pass through me like a cold wave. I bit my lip, trying to keep my voice steady, but the words slipped out in a painful rush. "You promised we'd be together forever. How am I supposed to do this without you?" "We were supposed to have a life together... it wasn't supposed to end like this," I murmured, my voice cracking as I hugged my arms around myself, searching for the comfort that would never come.

At that moment, Akash re-entered the room. He placed a glass of water on the table next to me, his expression unreadable, though his eyes flickered with something I couldn't quite place—concern? There was a stiffness to his movements as if he were doing it out of habit rather than any sense of care.

He cleared his throat, his voice low. "I know this... marriage wasn't what you wanted," he said, each word carefully measured as if he were trying to keep a distance even in his sympathy. "But we're both here now. Might as well get used to it."

I looked up at him, caught off guard by his tone. He wasn't being cold, not exactly. It was more like he was bracing himself, keeping his own emotions locked away, just as I was.

I managed a hollow laugh, shrugging, "It's not like I have a choice. We're both trapped, aren't we?"

"Trapped? I'm not trapped. I'm here because I chose to be." He said...
