DerekThe god's awful noise was a woman crying. Soldiers rushed around a massive mansion. "By Baal's might, this building could rival the Dark Citadel." I proclaim, studying the intricate architecture. The screaming seemed to come from this building.
It stood at least 40 feet tall. Held up by two massive silver pillars. The same symbol as the entrance was emblazoned in a strange dark metal. "This must be the guild hall, I presume."
"We must find her, the Parent Killer!" A tall muscular man boomed across the street. I walked up to him, curiosity peaked. I stood a few feet taller than him, almost towering over him.
The look in his eye and the way he regards me seems like he's a former soldier; I know this well. I spent the last 10,000-plus years of my life training demon warriors. "What is happening!?" Ask, my deep voice carrying.
"Who the hell are you?" He demands, his purple eyes glaring daggers. Can't tell him my demonic name. His brain will rupture.
The first thing we learn in the Academy is that our true names are too advanced for human minds to handle. Only humans with strong wills and demonic sensitivity are immune to such fatalities.
"I am called Derek, Derek Nox Black. I just arrived here and heard this noise. Now could you tell me what's happening? Or should I find things out for myself?" I say, raising a dark eyebrow.
"Am I supposed to be scared, mister?" He snapped back, spitting at the ground near my feet.
I am a naturally carefree demon, ironic as it may be. I have immense patience, but I will not tolerate blatant disrespect. I have butchered countless demons across dimensions. This mortal is naught but a mere speck of dust.
I summoned Noir from my shadow, As a darkness wielder, I can create and destroy using shadow magic. The man stepped back at the sight of my magic.
Noir is a Shadowfang wolf I created as a boy. His shadowwalk ability has helped me win countless wars."I will not repeat myself twice," I growl, my anger surfacing. Then I smell it, Blood. Not just any blood, but human.
"Out of my way, fleshbag!" I roared Noir barked his eyes glowing a menacing red.I lifted the man by his neck with ease, cutting off his airway. "I asked nicely first, you chose death when you spat at my kindness." I seethe. A crowd began to gather. With a mere flick of my wrist, his feeble neck snapped like a twig, the sound echoing through the crowd.
"Now," I say, throwing the dead man over my shoulder like a discarded waste.
I walked into the guild hall, the smell of sweet blood guiding me. I don't drink blood, but demons have a natural thirst for it. I'm considered an anomaly in that I choose not to act like the animals we're depicted. "Who was killed here?" I ask again, my voice like cold steel."It was our assassins' guild master and protector of this town." A small woman with green eyes and a soft face responded. "Who are you, stranger? Why do you wish to know?"
I liked the attitude on this one; like, a thorned dragon rose from Drakis. I cracked my signature smile, "If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to hunt down this murderer for you." I say, cracking a smirk.
The thorny woman considered my proposal. "I don't know, how would you catch this killer?" She inquired further.
I summoned my shadow panther, Shade. The woman jumped back, confused and shocked. "I have my methods." I chuckle darkly.
"I never got your name," I say as more of a statement than a question.
She rolled her eyes, "It's Lora Blackstone, and I work for the adventurer guild when I'm not helping my parents and practicing my healing skills." She blabbered excitedly.
"What's this adventurers guild you speak of?" I question, the words sounding funny and strange in my mind.
"It's called a guild, but it's more of an outpost. The only real guild is this one." She explains gesturing to the Assassin's Guild hall.
The human world is interesting. I think I'll stay awhile, It's not like I have much of a choice anyway. "In which direction did this murderer take?" I ask, anxious to start the hunt. Lora pursed her lips in thought. "I don't know exactly, but I heard someone has a head start on the search. You might want to get moving." She says, pointing north.
I nod my head. "You've been most helpful indeed. On my honor as a warrior, I will find that human and make him spill his guts. Literally, " I vow. Dark magic pulsed around the air, solidifying my promise.
"No problem, I guess. You seem like a nice person underneath all that dark exterior." She says, a small smirk tugging the corners of her mouth.
With that, I take my leave, heading north. "I have a feeling things are just getting started." I say, jumping into the air, my red wings catching the evening breeze.
