The door opens and Raine sees sunlight for the first time in what seems like forever.
My eyes hurt was the first thing I thought when I felt the light pouring through the cellar door. The next thing I felt was fear, the fear of what would happen next, the fear of what these strangers would do to me. I made myself as small as possible and backed away into the corner. I struggled to adjust my eyes but through the haze I could vaguely make out the silhouette of two men.
"wouldn't ya look at that Charlie, looks like we really got lucky," One of the men exclaimed, "Help me get her out will ya."
I can feel them coming closer. If I'm going to do something I should do it now. As the men start approaching me I start thrashing and flailing as hard as I can. Of course It does nothing. They easily grab me, one of them holds my arms tightly and says in a low and menacing voice.
"Listen here now girl you betta calm down or else something very bad is going to happen to you." He squeezed my hand harder and gave me a firm look with his eyes.
I could only give a stiff nod. I stopped thrashing and then one of the guys used something to tie my hands. After they tied my hands they put a blindfold on me.
"Charlie hurry up and help me bring the girl roun back", The voice on my right said.
I felt myself being lifted. I can hear the footsteps of the man carrying me but with my eyes blindfolded I have no idea where he's going. It wasn't long before I felt the man suddenly pause and throw me into some kind of vehicle.
We've been driving for a while now but we still haven't reached our destination. My body is weak and severely dehydrated. My eyes feel so heavy, I feel like I'm going to pass out. I'm trying my best to keep it together but I can feel my consciousness starting to fade.
A huge bump startled me awake. I still feel disoriented but by the way they're slowing down it looks like we've reached our destination. It looks like I was right, I can hear them getting out of the car. I've been waiting for a few minutes but no one came to get me. The darkness and the feeling of being trapped is starting to get to me. I'm starting to panic again, luckily I didn't have to wait long. I heard a door open then someone lifted me out of the vehicle. I can feel myself being carried. We don't walk for long though as I soon feel my body being thrown to the floor.
"Be good okay", I hear one of the men say. I could only give a stiff nod. I felt a hand moving closer to my face and soon I was faced with blinding lights. I squinted my eyes and tried to adjust them to the brightness. After a while I could finally see clearly. The first thing I did was try to get a good look at my kidnappers. The one standing in front of me was a brawny middle aged guy. While the guy busily moving around the room was a thin scrawny man with a sickly pale complexion. The place I'm in is a small room with no windows. The only source of light is a glaring yellow light.
The brawny middle aged guy signals for me to get up. When I don't he grabs my arms and forces me to stand. He leads me to a corner of the room with a large metal cage as soon as I see it I start to struggle and scream. My screams are muffled by the cloth in my mouth and my strength is no match for them. Soon I'm thrown into the cage, I watch as my kidnappers close the doors and disappear from my view. As soon as they left I felt something break inside me. I finally started to process my situation. I roughly slumped down and started bawling my eyes out. I'm trying to control myself but the tears won't stop. I'm not sure how long I've been crying but I can tell it's been awhile. After releasing my emotions I started to calm down a bit. I took the chance to survey my surroundings. In the dim light I can only see a blanket haphazardly thrown across the cage floor. Outside all I see is placid cream walls and darkness. I laid down to try to get some rest but with all the adrenaline gone I can finally feel how gross my body feels. I feel so hungry and thirsty, I haven't showered in days. Stop whining Raine at least you're not dead.
I'm trying my best to sleep but sleep just won't come. I don't have to try long though because soon I hear the door open and footsteps walking in my direction. As the person approaches I can vaguely make out some of their features, it's the scrawny guy from early.
He gives me a condescending look as if seeing my suffering gives him great pleasure. He opens a small opening in the cage and throws something in. He quickly closes the opening and leaves without saying anything. I wait until he's gone before I make any moves. I made some quick glances around my surroundings to make sure he's gone. After making sure the coast is clear I scrambled towards the spot where he threw something earlier. The thing that he threw in looks like a nutrition pack. I gave it a few pokes to make sure it's safe and there's no tricks. Seeing that nothing happened I grabbed it and ripped it open. I frantically began to wolf it down. I ate the whole thing in about three minutes. I already feel my energy starting to go up but I still feel hungry. Anyway it's not like those guys are gonna appear out of nowhere and offer me more nutrition packs. I better just try to get some rest. I crawled back towards my blanket and laid down. After a while I finally felt my consciousness slipping away.
