It was late at night, almost midnight, when I finally turned the corner to enter my property. I was planning to go back early; that's why I've been working like a madman just to get all the reports and planning or whatever Laswell made me work to get done.
But it still takes me like eternity to get all those shite finished. Not Theo nor König had chatted with me today to inform me about anything that they might be doing. I'm still worried if Theo is still mad at me or not. And König himself doesn't inform me what happened with him, so I'm left in the dark with no clue about what happened.
When I want to press my pedal to accelerate faster, I see a silhouette walking in the side road. Their back was against me. I furrowed my brow. Who the fuck is walking alone at this hour, let alone around my property?
I decided to slow down and honk my car at them. It made them stop but didn't turn around. I get closer to them and stop right beside them.
As I rolled down the window, my free hand already reached the handgun I always hide in one of my cars. But when I saw them finally turn around and look at me, it was a familiar, annoying skullmask.
I sigh in relief but still wouldn't let go of my hand that was holding my pistol. One of my fingers is on the trigger. "What are you doing in the middle of the night walking alone like this?"
He remained silent at my question for a moment, "So you're back."
"What? You don't like it that I'm back?"
He only shrugged, then walked around my car. I tightened my hand on my pistol when I saw him reach the other side of the car, then he let himself in in the passenger seat. "What do you think you are doing? Get out."
He leaned back against the seat as he folded his arms in front of his chest. "Put down your gun. I'm not hostile." He said it with what I assume is an annoyed tone. I raise my eyebrows as I look at him like he's crazy. The audacity.
I scoffed as I finally let go and turned the engine of the car back on.
The ride was silent for another few seconds before he ruined it again by talking. "Your brother doesn't like school. Why do you send him there? Isn't he smart enough to study by himself?"
"I don't think that's your business, Simon."
He turned to look at me with his hard glare, and I just let out a smirk when I succeeded in getting a reaction out of him. He looks ahead again as he lets out a scoffed himself.
"Don't take what you can't, Schatten."
I immediately stopped the car, which made both me and him slightly jerk forward as my head snapped at him. "Say that again." My hand is already reaching for my pistol once again.
My face was nowhere near friendly.
He remained silent as he kept his posture and didn't move at all. I silently gritted my teeth as I started to drive again, letting go of my hold on my handgun.
"Say that one more time, and I'll make sure by the time of tomorrow you'll get out of my property." My knuckles turned white by how hard I held the steering wheel.
Fuck. This is mom's car; don't damage it. Don't damage it. Don't damage it.
I keep reminding myself in my head not to get emotional when I'm still inside the car. This is the last car my mom bought for herself to make it a work car. But she doesn't even have the chance to use it because she gets pregnant with Theo. And she can't even get out of bed, which makes her never use this car. Only once when she brought it from the vendor.
