The dinner continued as Luciano and Cashmere fell into a comfortable rhythm of conversation, the initial tension slowly melting away. Yet, beneath the surface, there was a palpable energy between them—an intensity that neither could ignore.

Luciano leaned back in his chair, his hazel eyes never leaving Cashmere. He studied her carefully, noting how she carried herself, her subtle strength in her posture, and her confidence in her voice.

 She's different.

He thought to himself, his admiration growing with each passing moment.

But there was something else, too. A challenge. Luciano could sense the walls Cashmere had built around herself, and it intrigued him. He was a man who was used to getting his way with women, but with her, he knew he couldn't take the usual route. And that only made him more determined.

As the waiter cleared their plates, Luciano took a sip of his wine, still watching her intently. He decided it was time to address the topic that had been looming over them all night.

"Cashmere," he began, his voice smooth but serious. "I think it's time we talk about the reason we're here."

Cashmere felt her breath catch slightly at his words. She had known this conversation was coming, but the weight of it hit her differently now that they were face-to-face.

This is it.

She kept her expression neutral, though she couldn't deny the butterflies in her stomach. "You're right," she replied, meeting his gaze. "We need to talk about it."

Luciano nodded, his expression unreadable. "Marriage," he said simply, letting the word hang in the air between them. He watched her closely, gauging her reaction. "How do you feel about it? What does marriage mean to you?"

Cashmere took a moment to collect her thoughts. This wasn't something she could answer lightly, especially not with the way Luciano was looking at her—as if he could see straight through her. "I've always believed marriage is something sacred," she began slowly, her voice steady. "It's not just a contract or a commitment. It's a partnership, a bond that's supposed to last forever. My parents have been together for 20 years, and they're still going strong. My dad... he showed me what it means to be loved and respected by a man. He set the bar really high."

Luciano listened intently, nodding slightly as she spoke.

She's strong. She knows what she wants. He thought, impressed.

But there's more to her. There's a vulnerability she's hiding, and I want to see it.

"Your father sounds like a good man," he said, his tone softening a bit. "I can see where you get your strength from."

Cashmere smiled a hint of pride in her eyes. "He's my role model. I've always looked up to him. And my mom... she's the kind of woman I aspire to be. Strong, independent, but also loving and supportive. Together, they've built a life that I admire."

Luciano's gaze softened as he listened to her speak about her family. It resonated with him more than she could know. "My parents were similar," he said, his voice dropping slightly. "They had a strong bond, a true partnership. But I lost my mom when I was 17."

Cashmere's eyes widened, a pang of sympathy hitting her. "I'm so sorry."

Luciano nodded, accepting her sympathy. "It was hard, but it taught me a lot about life, about love, and about what it means to be a man. My father always told me that a man's strength comes from the woman he chooses to stand beside him. He never remarried after my mom passed. He said she was the only one for him, and no one could ever take her place."
