"Through the darkness, I see you. Through my suffering, I feel you. My greatest creation- my greatest love. All this and more, I did for you"
The woman held the young vampire's hand firm. She trailed through the dark, damp streets with purpose, finally stopping on one dimly lit street corner. She pulled down her hood to reveal long black hair and a pale face.
She let go of the youngling before staring up at the cloudy night sky, the rain bouncing onto her porcelain cheeks. She looked upwards with a small smile before turning her attention to the awaiting youth.
"Darkness, rain...the stars...all of it, do you think this is what the first Vampire saw as he crawled out of Annwyn?"
The young vampire gasped slightly as she watched him with amusement.
"I guess they never taught you that in Stildegar, of course not. The Vampiricle decided to cover our true history many moons ago to make us far more palatable to others. And so we lie to ourselves- make no mistake little one, we came from the dark realm. We crawled through blood, piss and shit to make a home for ourselves here, as we are. Our first Vampire came through a rift and found himself in an empty valley- he looked around and saw safety and freedom. He saw food was plentiful, he saw he could make a family and he did. We flourished, we thrived and we built Mintharin"
She spun around on the spot, her face bathed in moonlight.
"Today, you shall reclaim our glory. No longer shall we cower in the shadows, drinking from cups and not from veins. No longer shall we be enslaved to the corrupt Vampiricle and this is all thanks to you. You shall be the face of change. Your sacrifice will be hailed godly, as a gift to our future" she placed her long hands around the young man's face and pressed a slight kiss to his forehead.
A little further down the street a man locked his front door, pulled his scarf closer to his neck and made his way to work. The two figures on the street corner waited for him to pass before the woman nodded to the stranger. The young Vampire began to follow.
The human popped in his earbuds as rock music blasted into his ears. He walked quickly down the deserted road before turning left to a small alleyway past a local park. The vampire behind him kept his footsteps light. After catching up with the human, he tapped him on the shoulder.
The man turned in shock when the young vampire began his attack. He threw the man to the floor who soundlessly watched, frozen in fear, before pouncing on top of him and thrusting his sharp teeth into the man's neck. A gargled cry erupted from bloodied lips, the human moaning as the artery in his neck sprayed blood deep into the Vampires mouth.
His head fell back and eyes became glassy as the last of his life was drained. The young Vampire finished the final few drops before falling back onto the damp pavement, panting with sheer joy and fulfilment. There, he waited, just as he was told, for the authorities to find them both. The world of Vampires would know his name, his face- and they would hail him as a hero. He was sure of it.
Satisfied that the deed was done, the woman pulled her cloak back around her face and smiled. She left the street corner quickly, knowing full well that The Vampiricle would sense a human has been killed by one of their own any minute now, the entire area would be flooded with agents. Her driver pulled up near the road and she climbed in.
"Take me to the Iona Mansion. I have someone I need to speak to"
