Emily's POV
I stared in horror at my empty closet. "NO! I don't believe it... All the proof I had is gone!" I exclaimed.
My body started to shake and Zig pulled me into his arms. "Hey, we're gonna figure this out, okay?" Zig asked.
"Let's just think about this... The Alphas broke in while we were snooping around the old clubhouse, so they can't have gone far," Abbie said.
"Yes, but they could have disposed of the evidence by now," James said.
"I don't know. From what Emily's told us, they sound like the kind of people who like to play games. I'll bet they still have it," Chris said.
"I say we kick down their clubhouse doors and raid the place," Becca said.
"That's not a bad idea... Tonight is the ceremony the school put together to honor them," Tyler said. "If everyone's there, they won't be around to guard the house."
"But... what if they brought the evidence with them? I just feel like they wouldn't leave the evidence unguarded... like I did," I said.
"What are you gonna do, ask them for the evidence they broke into your apartment to steal? They're not exactly gonna hand it over," Kaitlyn said.
"What other choice do I have? I have to get it back."
"I don't know, Emily... After everything you've told us about the Alphas, confronting them could be dangerous," Zack said.
"Well, I'm out of options. They have that video of me, and I have nothing on them. As long as I don't have any leverage, I'm at their mercy."
"I'm afraid that Emily is right. I don't know what their ultimate goal is, but I doubt the Alphas will simply leave you alone after everything," Sebastian said. "We must take the offensive if we don't want to be crushed."
I turned and gazed at my friends, worry lining their faces. "Look, everyone... I know that a lot of bad stuff has happened to you already. I understand if you want to sit this one out."
"Uh... Are you serious? There's no way in hell I'm letting you go by yourself," Chris said.
"Agreed! We're your friends, Emily. How many times do we have to tell you that we've got your back?" Abbie asked.
"And let's be real... You've helped us all so much. It's time that we returned the favor," Kaitlyn said.
My friends gathered close, wrapping their arms around me. "Is a group hug happening? I think a group hug is happening," Zack said.
"This is so... affectionate," Sebastian said.
I felt tears welling up in my eyes as my friends surrounded me. "Guys... I don't know what to say," I said.
"You don't have to say anything. Just focus on getting ready to kick some Alpha ass," Zig said.
"What are we waiting for? Let's GO!" Becca exclaimed.
We arrived at the auditorium to find it packed with people. Cameras surrounded the front of the stage, streaming live video on a large screen so that everyone could see the proceedings. "Whoa, what's with all the buzz? Are they filming this?" Zack asked.
"There are a lot of powerful former Alphas. I'm sure they pulled out all the stops for this ceremony," Tyler said.
I scanned the crowd, but it was all guests and school officials. Security guards hovered all around the room. "I don't see Nathan or any of the other Alphas," I said.
