Chapter 4: The end of their beginning
[Hitori POV]
"..." I stood before the massive structure, barely comprehending its size. My eyes scanned my surroundings, trying to take in everything. My complexion slightly worsened while doing so, noticing the small yet steady trickle of people passing by me... They called this, an "entertainment complex"? I can't believe that. None of this is entertaining. If anything, the crowds nearby might trigger my Seishun complex. Everyone is probably talking about me. What is that weird girl doing, looking all confused? Maybe they'll put me in a compilation of clueless teens online... which will immediately catch fire, and end up trending...
"..." Now's not the time, Hitori... I slapped my cheeks, forcing myself to focus. Hikigaya-san wasn't here yet, so I had some time to myself... Uh, what do I talk about? Think, Hitori, think. Come on, guitarhero, what great idea do you have? I need something... How am I supposedly engaging on Oh!Tube, yet underwhelming offline? People write supportive comments on my videos and eat up guitarhero's exciting life. She was the most popular girl at school, mastering the guitar despite hardly practicing daily, had 1000 friends on LOINE, and a mysterious boyfriend, among other "facts". If only she could share a fraction of her charisma with me! I don't care if it's fake!...
"..." I paced around the amusement park's entrance... It was a slow shuffle in a corner away from the main path. I couldn't blatantly impede anyone else. My parents had raised me to a higher standard than that... and not that I would combust if suddenly pressed to apologize to a stranger... heh, heh, heh...
"..." I passed a mirror outside a public restroom. Looking at my reflection, wearing a school uniform outside of classes, reminded me of my earlier struggles... Who knew leaving the house could be so hard? I sure didn't...
[Flashback]
"Zzz... Thank you for coming everyone!... I had to put a lot of plans on hold to make this concert... Zzz..."
"Hitori-chan, wake up!" My mother knocked on my door.
"H-huh? What is it, Mom?" I groggily rose from my bed, confused about why she needed me. I always played with headphones so it couldn't be noise. My sister or the dog hadn't made a mess either.
"You have plans today, Hitori-chan!"
"Plans?" Still half-asleep, I didn't understand everything she said... Besides, why would someone like me have plans? The only schedule I had was for guitarhero's uploads... I didn't have any friends to schedule events with... You know, for some reason, I don't feel sleepy anymore.
"You wouldn't stop talking about them yesterday, Hitori-chan!"
"..." I turned on my phone and opened the calendar app...
