Sage flicked the blunt to the side and stood up, feeling a rush of energy and defiance course through her. She grabbed her keys and walked out of the house, the cool air hitting her face as she stepped outside. The weight of everything—Hendrix, Alexia, the pain she had been numbing—still pressed on her chest, but in that moment, she felt an overwhelming need to just move, to get away from the suffocating confines of her home.

As she walked down the street, the sounds of the city buzzed around her, but her mind was locked in a cycle of thoughts and emotions. The laughter from earlier still echoed faintly in her mind, though now it felt hollow. I gotta get my lick back, she had said, but out here, under the streetlights, she wasn't so sure anymore.

Sage shoved her hands into her pockets, her heart racing as she wandered aimlessly. She didn't have a plan, but staying locked up in her house had become unbearable. Maybe she was running, or maybe she was just trying to feel something other than the pain that had been eating away at her.

With each step, she felt a pull to do something—anything—that would remind her of who she used to be before all this mess.

"Sage, hurry up!" Carolina's voice rang out from outside, cutting through the fog in Sage's mind.

Sage snapped out of her thoughts, realizing Carolina had been waiting in the car this whole time. She took a deep breath, the weight of her emotions still heavy, but hearing Carolina's voice grounded her, if only for a moment. She had been walking aimlessly, but now she had to face her friend.

With a last glance at the street, Sage turned and headed toward the car where Carolina sat, tapping her fingers impatiently on the steering wheel. As soon as Sage climbed into the passenger seat, Carolina gave her a once-over, noticing the tension still clinging to her.

"You good?" Carolina asked, her voice firm but softer than before, sensing something wasn't right.

Sage nodded, avoiding Carolina's gaze. "Yeah, I'm good," she said quietly, though they both knew it was a lie.

Carolina sighed, starting the car. "Let's get out of here," she muttered, driving off. Sage stared out the window, feeling the weight of everything still pressing down on her, but grateful for the escape—if only for a little while.

Carolina glanced over at Sage as they drove, her brows furrowing with concern. "You good, sis? You been mean-mugging me all day," she said, her tone light but laced with genuine worry.

Sage blinked, snapping out of her daze, and looked over at Carolina, trying to muster a small smile. "I'm just... processing," she replied, her voice quiet. She knew her mood had been all over the place, and it wasn't fair to take it out on Carolina, but the image of Hendrix and Alexia was still burned into her mind.

Carolina sighed, keeping her eyes on the road. "Look, I know you're going through it, but I'm here, alright? You don't have to keep it all locked up."

Sage took a deep breath, finally letting a bit of the frustration show. "It's just... everything feels messed up, Lina. That picture of Hendrix with Alexia, the way he's moved on... It's like none of this even affected him."
