My Strange Country | Sep.5, 2024

Simple reason... I like my country, I wanted to show what my country is like in the shortest way possible, so here you go.

Boiling hot coffee and burning incense,
People chattering in Logic and nonsense,
Prices rise so high As life is so intense,
Yet comedians talk about it like it's a coincidence,

This is my country as weird as it seems,
So historic as the old king deems,
A daring story emerges from the many painted scenes,
Stories that are as aspirational like fictional dreams,

Lights turn on and off like Christmas lights,
Even in the cities, blackouts are expected through the nights,
While children play with their shadows to cause fun and frights,
Their parents look for coal in their homes, it's somehow considered as their rights,

Our pride comes most with our food,
A strange creation to eat, but really, everyone should,
Tastes are endless here, so it would be rude,
If you never get tasted it, that is, if you could,

13 months of sunshine isn't an easy story to tell,
As such a thing like snow has never been seen to have fell,
Our calendar truly is a peculiar thing to talk about as well,
With the sun having to never disappear, not even from our prison cell,

This country truly is a work of something grand,
As both lush forests and scorching deserts are on the same land,
Even though every Ethiopian has something to stand,
It's our culture to always lend a hand.
