"Kanino 'to?" Ada asked, holding the sketchpad I bought for Mine. I quickly snatched it from her hands. "Didn't know you're into drawing now? Since when? Bakit hindi ko alam?!"
"Just leave it there. I thought you were going to hang out with Ceska?" I asked. She's been in my room for thirty minutes. I was doing my paper when she barged in.
She squinted her eyes. "You're dodging the question. But whatever, we'll leave at 2:30 p.m. Let's watch a movie muna kaya?"
I shook my head. "Find someone else to bother." She laughed. She likes watching tragic movies and then whining to me afterward because her makeup gets ruined.
"I know what you're thinking. You're so bad. Just tell me whose sketchpad that is. It seems new—is it a gift for someone?" I just nodded.
Her eyes widened. "Seriously?! Kanino?"
"Why are you so persistent?"
"I'm your best friend, Ami! You hardly talk about your love life anymore!" There's nothing to tell because ever since my first break-up, I haven't tried pursuing anyone again. I also haven't been attracted to anyone in the years that have passed. If I were, Ada would be the first to know. I’ve heard stories that some girls liked me, but they were brushed off after days or weeks of rumors. No one made an effort to fully present themselves, so I didn't bother getting to know them.
Except this princess of the Torrecampos.
It's not like I wanted them to made the first move, but would I if don't know them in the first place. They could be non-existent for all I know since I've only heard rumors.
"Hey, you're avoiding the question!"
"Not now, Ada." She rolled her eyes.
"I just hope it's not a girl..." She looked me in the eye. "Remember Ilora, Ami. It didn’t end well with her. I don’t want that to happen again. Tell me if you're ready; I'll interview her myself." I didn't know if she was joking or not, but I just laughed it off.
"Why mention a name? It's been years, and you sound like my mother, Ada. Stop it." I smirked and pushed her out of my room so I could get some sleep.
I don’t need anyone screening my future girlfriend. I can handle that myself. What I need to ensure is that my girlfriend and my best friend will get along.
I was about to close my eyes when my phone's notification sound rang through my head.
