A season changes as well as their hearts
The silent moments now filled with untold tension
Jay, not being able to hold back the swelling
He stands before the great chasm of silence and revelation.
It presses in.
Love:"You have been very quiet lately. Are you all right?"
Jay: "Yeah, not like that. I was thinking. there is something I would like to say."
Grace, the storm, continues her erratic dance,
unwitting of the numerous tornadoes in motion inside him.
Her look, full of magic and wonder,
He would look at them and know there was a world out there he would want to explore,
But he held back, fearing the storm that would ensue.
Grace:"What's on your mind? You've been quiet around me."
A fortuitous connection, a fleeting moment of openness,
That has all suddenly changed.
For as the evening light dims, so does their exchange deepen,
Jay admits, his voice shaky bare-hearted.
Jay: " I've sort of begun to feel. something for you. Much as I've tried to avoid this feeling. Right now I don't want to lose a friendship, but I had to tell you."
A shocked, confused reaction, he's at a loose end then.
The response from her is a maelstrom,
In her eyes, a mirror of the turmoil that continues in her broken heart.
In the moments of silence that ensue, they discover new territory,
Experiencing the threads of their just-settled friendship beginning to break apart so soon.
Grace: "I. I didn't realize. That's way too early. I need to digest this."
