How quickly things change. Turning away from the window so she could sneak a few more minutes of sleep wasn't new for Rebecca, but having someone to cuddle up to was. As she rested her head on Colby's chest, she smiled. At the start of the tour, she could hardly wait for the debacle to be over: her scheduled opponent was a no-show, leaving her as the only woman on the roster. Then she had met Kevin and Rami, who quickly became wonderful friends. Colby was another matter entirely. She hadn't been planning on sleeping with anyone while she was Italy and certainly not a wrestler, but if it ended up being a horrible mistake, at least it had been a damn fun one.
Of course, now that she was having fun, the rest of the tour seemed to fly by, and they only had one more show to do before they were all set to go their separate ways. Kevin and Rami would be returning to Canada, she assumed; it was, strangely enough, one of the few things they hadn't talked about. Colby was going back to America, and she had some dates to fulfill in Germany. Then, of course, there was the personal-trainer course she had signed up for in Orlando. At the time, it was a way to combine several different goals: get her mother off her back by having that elusive Plan B for a career in case wrestling didn't pan out, get a visa to be in the United States, and still be able to pursue wrestling—maybe even TNA, since it was based in Orlando as well. Part of her wanted to tell Colby about it, but she didn't want to seem clingy. She hadn't brought it up in any of their courtyard chats with Kevin and Rami, mostly because she didn't want it to sound like anything but wrestling was her dream. Now she was worried Colby might think she was following him back over the pond. The 'obsessive girlfriend' label could be a hard one to shake, and they weren't even dating.
She decided to try easing into the possibility. "Do you ever wrestle in Florida?" Rebecca asked, reaching up to pick out a curl and twist it around her finger.
"I can get bookings there, yeah. Why?" Colby's eyes were always lovely, but they were especially beautiful in the sunlight.
Now Rebecca had to decide how much to confess. "I was looking into a personal trainer program—you know, for a Plan B, in case wrestling doesn't work out." That was true, if not necessarily her current status. "There was one in Orlando that sounded good, and I think TNA is still there...."
"Yeah? Cool." Colby ran a hand up and down her back. "Hope it works out for you. I could come visit, or maybe you could come up to Iowa...."
Rebecca was fairly certain she couldn't find Iowa on a map, but she nodded anyway. He wasn't super enthusiastic, but he wasn't brushing her off either, so she thought it went pretty well. "Totally. I'll have to get your number and Kevin's and Rami's before we all leave tomorrow." By including their two new friends, she hoped it made it sound more casual.
Colby reached for his watch. "Fuck. We should probably start getting ready. Kev and Rami usually head down in about half an hour," he said, "and they'll knock...."
"Yeah." Rebecca reluctantly slid off him and stood. She would love to have one last night with Colby, but Kevin and Rami would probably be suspicious if they both skipped the evening courtyard chat, especially since it would be their last. "You go shower first. I'll clean up the room a bit in case they come over."
"You sure?" Colby grabbed the garbage bin as he stood, and Rebecca was glad he had remembered it. The last thing they needed was Kevin or Rami seeing a bunch of condom wrappers—and used condoms—in there.
"Yeah." Rebecca knew she probably needed the cold water more than he did, so she didn't mind going second. While Colby was in the shower, she slipped on her robe and pushed the beds apart again, rearranging the blankets so it looked like two people had slept separately rather than tangled together. Then she put her clothes out on her bed and checked her phone for messages. Her brother had called at some point, but she could call him back after breakfast; after the long night she'd had with Colby, she definitely needed some coffee. And maybe more condoms? she thought, looking at the two lonely wrapped condoms on the bedside table for a moment before tucking them in her purse. Or not. If they only had two, then they couldn't stay up too late. It would probably also make it easier to deal with their goodbyes tomorrow.
