"What the hell? You want me to poke your eyes out?"
That shrill voice filled the room. The police officers on duty were struggling to get the owner of that voice to stop harassing the victim, who was sobbing uncontrollably after having her hair yanked out so badly it left bald patches.
"Sir, sir, look! She's trying to gouge my eyes out! You have to punish her!" cried the weeping woman, hiding behind the officer.
"I'll do more than poke them, I'll rip them out so you can't see anything! You damn witch! You're a curse!"
And her name was Kabuteara Sastromidjo. A woman with long, shoulder-length hair who was standing there with her hands on her hips, glaring viciously at her enemy. Kabut regretted only pulling her former coworker's hair. She should've just pushed her off the 24th floor of the apartment building. That way, she wouldn't be this mad now.
"Sit down. Can you sit down?" ordered one of the officers.
"You're not sitting," Kabut snapped back, her voice thick with rage.
"Ugh, you're so rude to the officer!" Renita, the troublemaker who always knew how to push Kabut's buttons, chimed in.
"Bitc—"
"Miss Kabut." A deep voice cut her off mid-sentence.
Kabut turned. There he was, the man she'd been waiting for all along. The one person who could save her from the whirlwind of charges that were about to rain down on her, Abraham Maxwell. Well, at least, that's what she thought until she saw another figure emerge from behind him.
"Damn it!" she cursed.
"What trouble have you caused now?"
The man standing tall and broad-shouldered with a handsome face greeted her with a cold stare. Maybe to everyone else, that was a look of concern, but to Kabut, it was a deadly glare, ready to hurl a barrage of questions that would make the police interrogation look like child's play.
"Sorry, ma'am. Mr. Bangkit insisted on coming along," Abraham said apologetically.
"Not your business," Kabut retorted sharply, eager to avoid the man. She yanked Abraham aside and swiftly sat down. "Sir, this is my lawyer. If that devil over there is pressing charges for attempted murder, then I'll counter-sue."
"Oh, so you did cause trouble," said the man beside her.
Kabut turned her head and shot him a sharp glare. "Ugh! Shut up! Go home."
The man sighed. "Didn't I tell you? If you cause trouble again, we're getting back together."
"WHAAAAAAAAAT?"
A loud, shocked scream echoed throughout the room. Even the officers were startled. And as for the man being glared at by Kabut, he just looked on calmly, as if dropping such a bombshell was no big deal at all.
