Ch.2: The Dream

Schlatts P.O.V.

    Luckily Ted stopped bothering me about the reading on the drive home. Instead, Tucker suggested picking up pizza but Ted wanted tacos. So the two began debating on which we should get while I listened. "What do you think Schlatt?" Ted sighed, finishing his 20 minute yap sesh. "Pizza. Tucker had me at let's get pizza." I replied bluntly.

"Told you." Tucker snickered, Ted frowned. "Why don't we just get both Ted?" I suggested, Teds face softened and he slowly smiled. "That works." I rolled my eyes and started talking about how unexcited I was for classes tomorrow.

After eating pizza (and tacos) it was pretty late so I called it a day and got ready for bed. As I slid under my covers and stared at the ceiling in silence, all I could think about was what the psychic had said. I mean, I knew I'd been having trouble in the dating department lately but to say I'd never  find love? That's a bit extreme. This so stupid. I'm going to bed.

It surprisingly didn't take long for me to fall asleep. As soon as my eyes closed it felt like mere seconds had passed when they opened again. I was greeted with a pitch black abyss and my body shivered from the sudden gust of cold air that rushed at me. The feeling swirling in my chest was something I've never experienced before. Not an ounce of light was visible.

Until I turned around. In the distance was a faint soft yellow glow. Immediately I walked towards it. Hoping the brighter the light got the more it would comfort and distract me from the foreign ache I was suffering from.  The faster I walked the brighter it got. Until it was mere feet away. With how bright it was I had to squint my eyes to adjust. Something was emitting the glow.

It looked like..a person. "Hello?" I called out, hearing my voice echo into the abyss. The figure turned towards me and I recognized it as Y/N. "Y/N?" I muttered confused. "Schlatt?" She responded, flashing a soft smile. The ache in my chest faltered, I furrowed my eyebrows. "What're you doing here?"
"I don't know- kinda just ended up here, you know?....What're you doing here?" She asked a little too calmly.

"I don't know either...I just- opened my eyes and was suddenly in a black abyss-" As the last word escaped my lips I noticed that I wasn't in a dark void anymore. I was in a small room with a tv, couch, blankets, and soft lit lamps. The glow wasn't coming from Y/N anymore, simply the room we were in. Relief washed over me, the ache in my chest completely vanishing. "What?" Y/N spoke, breaking me out my thoughts. "Nothing." I cleared my throat. "You look kinda shaken up, wanna sit down?" She offered, taking a seat on the couch and scooting over to make room.

I hesitantly sat down, still shivering from the cold gush of air from the void. Y/N must've noticed because she grabbed a blanket and draped it over me. "Here, let me help you." She muttered, lifting the blanket and sliding under it. As soon as we made contact I felt my body warm up immediately. Subconsciously I wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer to desperately capture more warmth. As soon as I noticed what I was doing I tensed up.

"Is this okay?" I asked, loosening my grip in case she wasn't okay with it. Y/N nodded and laid her head gently on my chest. I've never felt more calm in my life than I had in that moment. We stayed in that position for a while. Until Y/N eventually pulled away, which resulted with me shivering immediately. "Schlatt? Can I tell you something?" She blurted, looking at me for approval. I nodded and watched her face turn pink.

"I uhm- I'm in love with you."

My eyes widened. Y/N, is in love with me? "I've uh- always loved you." She continued, fiddling with the hem of her sweater. I don't know what came over me. I grabbed her fiddling hands and held them as she avoided my gaze. "Look at me." I begged, Y/N slowly glanced up and as soon as our eyes met I felt my chest tighten. "Can I kiss you Schlatt?" She mumbled, looking away quickly. I continued staring at her face. Unable to look anywhere else.

"Yes." I said quietly. Y/N took a deep breath and let go of my hands. She paused, mustering the courage to look me in the eye. When she did, her face was flushed and to be honest I felt mine heat up a bit. I leaned forward and so did Y/N. My hand cupped her cheek as she gently ran her fingers through my hair. As soon as our lips connected I was engulfed with warmth.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

My obnoxious alarm began blaring, ripping me away from my dream. I hastily grabbed my phone and turned it off. Throwing it on the floor and clutching my aching head. What the fuck just happened.
