This chapter is all Tommy POV, next one will be back to Kristin for the foreseeable future. Warning! This chapter includes some blood and violence, though nothing too graphic!

Tommy had been having an incredibly weird morning. The kind of weird that made him feel like he'd stepped into someone else's life for a bit.

It started with him waking up on an unfamiliar couch in a room he'd never seen before, the only thing grounding him being the tall, awkward figure hovering nearby. Of course, it had to be Ranboo.

He shot up, squawking as his wings flared out, sending him tumbling onto the floor. He landed in a heap of limbs and feathers, blinking up at the looming figure above him. "What the fuck, Ranboo?!" Tommy snapped, flustered. "Why are you being a creepy bastard this early in the morning?"

Ranboo, in typical awkward fashion, rubbed the back of his neck, his black and white face flushed. "I wasn't- I mean, I didn't mean to. I couldn't sleep, alright? Watching you sleep was... uh, peaceful. It helped."

Tommy groaned, rubbing his face. "You're a fucking freak," he muttered, but the truth was, he didn't have the energy to be mad. Not after how tense things had been lately. "What time is it, anyway?"

"Ten a.m.," Ranboo said, too calmly for Tommy's liking. "And, uh... my guardians will be here soon for breakfast."

Tommy froze mid-grumble, glaring up at Ranboo. "And you didn't think to wake me up earlier?! I could've made a stealthy escape, no problem!"

Ranboo shook his head, seeming a little more on edge now. "You wouldn't have made it far. This part of the city? People are up early. You'd have been spotted in minutes."

Tommy rolled his eyes and flopped back onto the couch. "Great. Just great. So what, am I supposed to hide while they're here like some kind of wrong'un?"

"Well..." Ranboo's voice wavered. "You could hide in the bedroom, but..."

"But what?" Tommy raised an eyebrow, impatient. "Spit it out, Ranboob."

Ranboo looked down at the floor, his face a deep shade of purple now. "I might accidentally tell them you're here," he mumbled.

Tommy's jaw dropped. "How the fuck could you accidentally tell them?"

Ranboo, still avoiding Tommy's eyes, shuffled his feet. "I'm not... I'm not very good at keeping secrets. I get twitchy and nervous, and they'll know something's up if I act weird around them."

Tommy stared, utterly baffled. "You're telling me you can't even handle keeping your mouth shut for a breakfast?"

Ranboo sputtered, clearly flustered. "I just- I don't want to lie to them! Puffy and Niki have been really kind to me, and I don't feel comfortable, y'know, lying."

Before Tommy could even begin to respond, a soft chime echoed through the room, a sweet melody that felt more calming than alarming.

"That's the doorbell," Ranboo whispered, his eyes wide with panic. "They're here."

Tommy shot up from the couch, agitation flaring in his chest. "Shit, shit, shit! What are we gonna do?! Just tell them to piss off or something!"

"I can't just do that!" Ranboo hissed back, flailing a bit. "If I tell them to leave, they'll know something's wrong."

Tommy rubbed at his temples, exasperated. "Okay, look, if you're gonna get all twitchy and weird anyway, you might as well use it to your advantage. Just say you're not feeling well or some shit."
