An Unexpected Beat

The dimly lit practice room smelled faintly of sweat and dedication. Y/N had always loved that. The way the polished floors reflected her every movement, the soft hum of the music filling the air—it was her sanctuary, the place where she could lose herself in the rhythm, forget the world outside. And today was no different.

As she twirled and leaped, her body moved as if on autopilot, the music syncing with her heartbeat. She had a big audition coming up, one that could change everything for her as a professional dancer. Focus was key. Or at least, it was supposed to be.

"Wow," a voice said from behind her.

Y/N stumbled mid-turn, her balance faltering for just a second. She whipped around, startled, and there he was, standing casually by the door, arms crossed with an amused smile playing on his lips—Lee Know from Stray Kids.

Her heart skipped a beat, and not because of the dance. "Lee Know?" she managed to say, trying to keep her voice steady. It was one thing to admire him onstage, but to see him here, in person, and watching her... it was too surreal.

"Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt," he said, pushing himself off the wall and stepping into the room. "You're really good. Like, really good."

Y/N's face flushed. She wasn't used to receiving compliments from someone who danced on global stages, let alone someone whose every move was admired by millions. "Th-thanks," she stammered, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to check out the practice rooms, but I didn't expect to find someone killing it in here," Lee Know said, grinning. "Mind if I join?"

Her eyes widened. "You... want to dance? With me?"

He shrugged like it was the most natural thing in the world. "Why not? Dance is meant to be shared, right?"

Before she could overthink it, he stepped closer and took out his phone. A soft beat filled the room—something slow, sultry, and deeply rhythmic. He turned to her with a playful glint in his eye. "Shall we?"

Y/N could barely think straight, but her body responded instinctively. The music was their guide. Lee Know moved in sync with her as if they had rehearsed together for years. His movements were sharp yet graceful, full of the confidence that came with years of professional experience. But more than anything, it was the way he connected to the music that captivated her.

They mirrored each other, teasing and testing the boundaries, their bodies never quite touching but always aware of the other's presence. With every turn and glide, the room seemed to shrink until it was just the two of them, locked in a silent conversation through movement.

When the music faded, leaving only the sound of their breaths filling the air, Y/N found herself closer to him than she realized. She hadn't noticed when it happened, but they were standing just inches apart, his eyes locked onto hers, their energy crackling in the space between them.

"That was..." Y/N started, but her words trailed off. Her heart was pounding in her chest for reasons that had nothing to do with the dance.

"Yeah," Lee Know agreed softly, his voice lower, a little more serious now. "It was."

For a moment, neither of them moved, the air thick with something unspoken.
