ANGEL ROSE
EUNWOO LEE
Angel Rose shifted uncomfortably on the velvet stool. Her fingers traced the rim of her glass as the sound of smooth jazz filled the room. The masquerade ball was in full swing.Couples moved in perfect harmony, their elegant masks adding a layer of mystery to the night. Dallas had never felt so alive. Yet, she was more focused on her racing heart than the rhythm of the music.
She tugged at the neckline of her fitted midnight blue dress. Its satin fabric clung to her full curves in a way that left her feeling both exposed and hidden all at once.
Her dark brown eyes, peeking out from behind a simple delicate mask, scanned the crowd. Her natural shyness made her shrink back as the laughter and chatter swirled around her.
Her best friend, Ryan, stood beside her. His easy confidence was the complete opposite of her hesitant energy. He was dressed to the nines. A vibrant gold mask accentuated his smile. His arm casually draped around her shoulder as he gave her a little nudge.
"Angel, babe, I know you're not trying to sit here all night" Ryan teased. His voice dripped with the familiar warmth that always made her feel safe. "You've got men watching you like you're the star of the show, and you're over here acting like nobody sees you."
