Pelesit's POV

"Breath in and breath out" I let out a loud huff towards Derrick and open my eyes. "We have literally been doing this for the last hour! I thought we were going to explore my power!" I whine out loud while looking into his orange eyes. His black eyebrows frown slightly while his lips tug down.

"Let me tell you something that you probably should have already known." Derrick lets out a deep sigh and sits on the slightly brown grass beside me. It's still winter right now for us, so the grass is slightly browning, the flowers are basically shriveled up. Since I don't get to go outside often I forget what these cold months do to nature sometimes. Thankfully since I'm half hellhound my internal body temperature keeps me from freezing in this strong breeze.

As Derrick sits in front of me I curiously look at him, waiting for what he has to say. "The day you were born was different, to say the least. You were born on a red moon night. The red moon is a moon that is gifted to us by our Goddess Lilith twice a year. The red moon's gravitational pull calls out to the deepest parts of ourselves. Our raw internal power. When you arrived on this planet and took your very first breath the world went dark. It was as if that one breath you took sucked out all the powers from the moon. The sky was an endless abyss."

I stare confusingly at him. I know about the red moon nights, but my parents never told me it increases our powers or gives us strength. During the red moon nights I am usually forced to a part of the basement. My father told me that it was dangerous for me to be near the moonlight, as it would make me vulnerable & weak to attacks. But talking to Derrick, I realize it would do the exact opposite. Why would he not let me experience that at least once in my life ? Hurt courses through me at my parents lie. I know they are wanting to protect me and our people but it's unfair to cage me in instead of guiding me on how to use my powers. Maybe if they weren't so afraid of what I can do, I could have been had control over it.

"I am probably going to get a nice mouthful from Aaron for telling you this but oh well" Derrick shrugs his wide shoulders and lets out a small chuckle. "You took the energy of an ancient soul that night." "What!?" I splutter out cutting him off guard. My blue pierced eyebrows frown deeply and my full lips open in shock. Derrick's gaze is unwavering and staring deeply at me. I know he's serious.

"Thousands of years ago there was an ancient being named Agath. Agath was a dark fairy. She was also a nomad. Always arriving to one place but never staying long. She was also know as the Mother of Fear. Though she was a dark fairy, she used her powers for good. She was able to manipulate people's mind. Make them see anything she wanted them to see. She could move things without even lifting a finger. Her powers went deeper than that though. Over time she learned how to make someone into a vessel."

With those words I let out a gasp. No one has been able to do that for thousands of years. Vessels are people who no longer have control of their mind. They are basically puppets waiting for instructions. If left in the wrong hands a person who is evil can plant what ever they want into that persons mind and make them do whatever they say. The Witches War from years ago was to stop that from happening again. The witches were messing around with Liars Creek dark magic and experimenting on the people there. With their dwindling numbers they were trying to build back their witches empire.

"Yes, she was the first person to ever create a vessel. And that vessel was her mate." My eyes widen further in shock. How could someone do that to their mate? You shouldn't want to control the person you love. "Why would she do that?" I wonder out loud.

"We do not know for sure , but legend says that her mate was a witch. Agath was mated to a woman named Vero. Vero was a light witch, but never used her powers. She was sheltered from her witch life, therefore her powers never grew to be strong. When they met it was an instant connection. Love at first sight truly. They traveled the world together. Until the Despair War broke out. Vero had no way to defend herself against the vampires that came wrecking havoc on multiple lands. Every where they tried to run to, a vampire was always there."
