The following week, the city’s energy seemed even more charged for Hoseok. He had made it a point to visit the café at the same time, every day, hoping to see Ishaani again. He had observed her routine from afar, her arrival punctuated by the soft jingle of the café door and her departure marked by a wistful glance over her shoulder.Today, as the clock struck six, Hoseok positioned himself strategically at a table near the window. He wasn’t disappointed. Ishaani entered, her presence a burst of warmth in the chilly evening. Her traditional Indian attire, today in shades of deep blue and gold, made her look regal.
Hoseok’s pulse quickened. He waited a few minutes before approaching her table with the same casual confidence he had used before. “Is this seat taken?” he asked, though it was more of a formality than a question.
Ishaani looked up, her eyes meeting his. There was a moment of recognition, followed by a soft smile. “Oh, it’s you again.”
“I’m glad to see you,” Hoseok said, taking the seat without waiting for an invitation. “I was hoping we might chat again.”
“I suppose it’s fine,” Ishaani said, her tone light, though there was a flicker of uncertainty in her eyes.
Hoseok settled into the chair, his gaze fixed on her. “How’s the book?”
“It’s good,” Ishaani replied, closing it momentarily. “I’m actually nearly finished with it.”
“Good books are always hard to put down,” Hoseok commented, trying to keep the conversation flowing. “Do you often come here to read?”
“Yes,” Ishaani said, nodding. “It’s a nice place to unwind.”
As they spoke, Hoseok learned more about Ishaani’s interests—her love for literature, her passion for traditional Indian music, and her dreams of opening a cultural center in Seoul. He was attentive, listening intently, but his mind was already working on how to integrate himself into her life.
“I’ve never been to an Indian cultural event,” Hoseok said, trying to sound genuinely interested. “You’ll have to tell me more about them.”
“I’d be happy to,” Ishaani replied, her eyes lighting up. “There’s a festival coming up next month. It’s a great opportunity to experience the music, dance, and food.”
“Sounds fascinating,” Hoseok said, leaning in. “Maybe I’ll attend. It would be wonderful to see the culture through your eyes.”
Ishaani seemed pleased by the idea. “I’d be glad to have someone accompany me. It’s always more enjoyable with company.”
As the conversation continued, Hoseok’s focus remained on maintaining the illusion of casual interest. His questions were carefully crafted to reveal just enough about Ishaani without giving away too much about himself. He noticed her enthusiasm when she spoke about her cultural heritage, and he used that to his advantage, drawing out more personal details.
By the time the café was ready to close, Ishaani had relaxed noticeably, her initial reserve giving way to genuine warmth. Hoseok’s charm was evident, and he had managed to plant the seeds of curiosity and attraction in her mind.
“Well, I should get going,” Hoseok said, rising from his seat. “It’s been a pleasure talking to you again.”
“It has,” Ishaani agreed, gathering her things. “Thank you for the conversation.”
Hoseok’s smile was slow and deliberate. “I look forward to our next chat. And I’ll definitely see you at the festival.”
Ishaani nodded, her eyes meeting his with a hint of excitement. “I’ll look forward to it.”
As Hoseok watched her leave, he felt a surge of satisfaction. The encounter had gone precisely as planned. He had managed to insert himself into her world with just the right amount of charm and intrigue.
But this was only the beginning. Hoseok’s mind raced with thoughts of how he could further entangle Ishaani in his life, how he could make her a central part of his world. His obsession was growing, and he was determined to keep her close, no matter what it took.
Little did Ishaani know, the innocent café conversations and the upcoming festival would be the prelude to a far more intense and perilous chapter of her life. For Hoseok, the game had just begun, and he was prepared to do whatever it took to keep Ishaani within his grasp.
