The sound of the bustling city around us as we move boxes from the moving van we rented into our new store. So far it's just a dusty plain white room with a random counter placed against the wall. This place is in desperate need of furniture, and definitely some paint to spice it up a little. we're thinking about making it a thrift store.
Surprisingly, London doesn't have a lot of those. It's a new place, a fresh start from the unforgettable past. a place where no one knows us. something we've been needing for a while now. I put the last box down on the floor, it creaks as I do, i mentally note down that it needs new floorboards too.
Wren is Standing in the doorway stretching and yawning as he does, can't blame him. This whole week has been busy and I doubt any of us have gotten enough sleep with all the moving, working and such. we're only five days into September and I'm ready to sleep the rest of the month but with our busy schedule I don't stand a chance.
i glance over at Rudy noticing his frustrated expression as his eyes scanned the room. he probably just noticed how much work this place needs and he's not happy. he huffs pulling the keys to the van out of his pockets. he tells us he's gonna go park the van somewhere else better then it filling half of the sidewalk.
Both Hayes and Wren look tired too, taking a moment to decide I'll go buy us some food. There's a nearby pizza less than six minutes away and I have no trouble walking. i suggest my idea which makes Wren's expression at least brighten a tad bit. Hayes nods seemingly at least to agree with the idea of food.
Hayes lends me his wallet, and I begin my journey to the closest pizza place. My focus is on my phone as I walk, checking through the restaurant's reviews hoping for at least a decent pizza. The place doesn't have many options, fortunately no bad reviews. London is one busy place, I have to squeeze through dozens of people that makes my trip take longer than expected.
I finally made it. The place isn't very busy and the line is short. The cashier is a young teenage girl who I would admit looks like she's a part of some rock band. she asks me what pizza i want and i tell her, of course. I really need to get used to these British accents that so far have done nothing but catch me off guard every-time.
I ordered two pizzas, one with pepperoni and the other a salad. sitting down at a chair waiting for my pizzas to be done. The few customers here, a Woman, an old homeless guy and three teenagers chatting away at one of the tables while they eat pizza.
as i'm observing everyone in the place the bell rings another person entering, a very tall man walks in. His presence brings a sudden silence to the room. There's something odd about him. I'm just not sure what it is about him.
his hair is obviously dyed which the light blonde color gave it away. his dark brown eyes scan the room and they end up meeting my own. his eyes bore into mine and i'm unsure if he's started some unannounced staring contest but i keep staring back.
his stare intensifies even more when he doesn't tear his gaze away. There's definitely something weird with him. I hear my number get called but I don't move nor do I stop staring back. it's like something possesses me to not stop and my eyes blur a bit from the lack of blinking.
Fortunately he finally stops and nods towards the cashier. I listened oddly enough and got up grabbing my pizzas at the counter. I pass by him as I walk out. His eyes are still on mine but the intense feeling only disappears when I make it out of the place and the door closes behind me.
After making it back to our new store in one piece. Rudy, Hayes and Wren were all sitting on top of the counter as I walked in, I normally would tell Wren about every odd encounter I have but I hold myself back this time.I set the pizzas down, unsurprisingly five minutes after we're nearly finished with the pizzas. Neither do I mention me not buying drinks but none of them say anything.
swiftly grabbing the last pizza and immediately Wren whines "c'mon, you seriously took the last pizza." he sighs, but i don't mind him the only response he gets is a sound of pleasure from me as if the pizza tasted even better than the other bites i took, just to exaggerate.
Rudy silently rolls his eyes, he goes to hop off the counter and right as he does an unexpected crack sounds from the ceiling, "the hell?" as he's about to finish his sentence he gets interrupted by water gushing out from a fresh crack in the ceiling.
he froze just standing and staring at the forming puddle on the floor seemingly processing what just happened "you better me fucking kidding me." he spoke through gritted teeth as he clenched his fists.
the water pipes must have broken. and now we have another thing that needs to be fixed tho this one is definitely a lot more urgent.
