Prompt: What happens when you begin working at the same yogurt shop as your crush?
It was a typical Tuesday afternoon when I stepped into the local frozen yogurt shop for my first day of work. I had been hired a week earlier and was excited to start my new job. As I entered the bright and colorful shop, I couldn't help but notice the familiar face behind the counter - it was my long-time crush, Alex.
Alex was the reason I had applied for the job in the first place. I had been too nervous to ask him out, so I thought working alongside him would be the perfect opportunity to get to know him better. But as I stared at him blending a customer's fruity concoction, I couldn't help but feel a wave of panic wash over me.
What if he didn't like me back? What if working together only made things awkward between us?I quickly pushed those thoughts aside and plastered a smile on my face as I approached the counter. "Hey, Alex! Looks like we're coworkers now," I said, trying to sound casual.
Alex looked up and grinned. "Hey, I was wondering when you were going to start. Welcome to the team!"
As the day went on, I found myself getting more and more comfortable working with Alex. We chatted and joked as we served customers, and I couldn't help but notice how easy it was to talk to him. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
But then came the inevitable moment when a customer asked if we were a couple. I felt my face turn bright red as I stammered out a denial, but Alex just laughed it off. "Nah, we're just friends and coworkers," he said, winking at me.
I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope at his words. Maybe there was a chance for something more between us.
As the weeks went by, Alex and I settled into a comfortable routine at the yogurt shop. We worked together like a well-oiled machine, laughing and joking as we served up frozen treats to the endless stream of customers.
But just when I thought things couldn't get any better, disaster struck. One day, as I was cleaning the yogurt machines, I accidentally spilled a bucket of mix all over the floor. I stared in horror at the sticky pink mess, wondering how I was going to clean it up.
"Need a hand?" Alex's voice broke through my panic, and I looked up to see him standing next to me with a mop in hand.
Together, we worked to clean up the mess, laughing and joking the whole time. And as we stood side by side, shoulder to shoulder, I couldn't help but feel a spark between us.
That night, after we closed up the shop, Alex asked if I wanted to grab a bite to eat. My heart raced as I said yes, hoping that this was finally my chance to tell him how I felt.
Over burgers and fries, I finally worked up the courage to confess my feelings to Alex. To my relief, he smiled and reached for my hand. "I've been waiting for you to say that," he said.
And so, that night, as we walked hand in hand under the starry sky, I knew that working at the yogurt shop had been the best decision I ever made. Who knew that a simple job could lead to a blossoming romance with my crush? And to think, it all started with a spilled bucket of yogurt mix. Life truly is full of surprises.
