The midday sun bathed the film set in soft golden light, casting long shadows across the floor. Cameras and crew buzzed around, busy resetting the scene, but Ling barely registered the activity around her. Her focus was entirely on Orm and Anada. Standing under the bright lights, Anada's character, Engfa, was confessing her love to Orm's Earn. The scene was scripted and rehearsed countless times, yet the intensity between them made it feel as if it was happening for the first time.

Anada's voice was soft but carried across the set, her words filled with emotion. "I love you, Earn. I always have."

Orm's eyes, wide and searching, flickered with an unreadable depth, her character torn between disbelief and longing. The chemistry between them crackled in the air, undeniable and powerful. It was perfect—too perfect.

Ling felt her chest tighten, an uncomfortable knot forming in her stomach as she watched the scene. She knew it was all for the show, part of their job as actors. But even knowing that, she couldn't shake the strange feelings building inside her. She had seen Orm and Anada share many scenes before, but today, something was different. The way Orm's soft gaze lingered on Anada and the slight quiver in her lip as she reacted to the confession felt too real.

The director finally called, "Cut! That was brilliant, you two!"

The set suddenly buzzed with movement, the spell of the scene broken. Orm and Anada stepped out of their characters, laughing and sharing a glance that twisted something deep in Ling. Her chest tightened, her breath shallow. She knew it was just acting, but there was no denying the closeness between Orm and Anada, on and off the screen. It stung.

Ling's dark brown eyes tracked them as they walked off the set together, their shoulders brushing casually as they joked about the scene. Anada's laughter rang out, light and carefree, while Orm smiled—a rare, genuine smile that seemed reserved just for her. Ling's heart clenched painfully.

Why does this bother me so much? she thought, pressing her lips together. It's just acting. They're friends. That's all.

But the jealousy gnawed at her, sharp and unrelenting. Every time she saw them together—whether on set or during breaks—Ling felt herself being pushed further to the sidelines. Her confusion only deepened as her emotions twisted into something she couldn't understand, or didn't want to. She knew she was supposed to be happy for Orm, who was clearly close with Anada, but instead, all she felt was hurt. And the worst part? Ling had no idea why it affected her so much.

Ling tried to distance herself, needing space to breathe, but she couldn't fully escape. At lunch, while she sat quietly picking at her food, Anada plopped down beside her, radiating excitement.

"Ling! Did you catch that last scene? The director said it was perfect! The chemistry was just... wow!" Anada's voice bubbled with enthusiasm, completely unaware of Ling's inner turmoil. She leaned in closer, nudging Ling playfully. "Orm was amazing, right? She's just so... I don't know, there's something about her that's so magnetic."

Ling forced a smile, though it didn't reach her eyes. "Yeah... she's good."

Anada didn't seem to notice Ling's hesitation. "I mean, Orm's always been so pretty, but when she's serious like that—did you see her face? God, she's stunning." She sighed, resting her chin on her hand, clearly still caught up in the moment. "She's got that kind of quiet beauty that really gets to you, you know?"

Ling's heart sank, and she felt the knot of jealousy tighten. Every word Anada said only made the uncomfortable emotions inside her worse. She quickly realized she couldn't sit through this conversation any longer.
