𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙏𝙬𝙤

Throughout the weeks, Kane tried his best in every class. Got up early, Ran faster then anyone else, Made sure his bunk was always tidy, Was nice, Tried to be the best soldier.

And it worked.

He ended up top of his training class by the end of the first Ten Weeks. Those are said to be the worst in a Soldier's time in the army..

He was always trying harder though. While his new found friends started to notice how good he was doing, He never felt like it was enough.

When the sergeants noticed, He still didn't feel fulfilled.

He'd run faster.

Fight harder.

Hell, He'd die for this.

He just wanted to make that empty feeling in his gut go away..

One day, During training, They were doing obstacles. He was ducking through the mud and jumping over wood. He swung through the ropes and he dropped down under the wires.

While he was doing this, He ended up getting recognized by the commander.

"Attaboy."

He called to Kane and gave a nod. That made Kane freeze. He fell from the ropes and got stuck in the mud, He ended up being last and Zero made fun of him all through lunch.

"Man- Shut up! It wasn't even that big of a deal.." Kane mumbled, Picking through his food. He and Zero were sitting outside with the others because of how muddy everyone got.

"I'm just saying- How are you gonna fail that hard when you were in the lead?" Zero laughed, Nudging him, "One of those cute medics distract you?"

"Ew- No."

"Oh." Zero nodded, "A soldier then?"

"Wha- Zee!"

"Don't worry bro, I don't hate. Is it Jack?"

Kane kicked him in the thigh, Making Zero laugh. They both continue to eat their lunch and chat about things they missed from back home.

Halfway through lunch, The Commander started to walk over to them.

"Soldier."

He said gruffly, Making Kane and Zero both look up. Both were begging he was talking to the other person.

"Kane, Come with me."

'Fuckkk-' Is what the look Kane shot Zero.

Kane followed after the Commander after putting his food down. He followed the Commander into the bunks.

"So.. Kane."

"Yes sir?"

The Commander 'tsked' lightly.

"Saw you in training."

Kane was embarrassed. Of course he saw him. He sees everything, The bastard..

"Yeah.."

"Wasn't that impressed."

"Sorry, Sir."

Kane was obviously embarrassed. He had got so distracted by that 'Attaboy' that he completely forgot the challenge. Why did that affect him so much anyways?

"..How about some extra training after lights out?"

Kane was surprised by the man's offer.

"Really?"

"Yes. 22:00."

Kane nodded excitedly.

"Yeah, Okay.."

"Good. Don't be late. I hate it when people are late."

He said firmly, Then walked off.
