jay's pov

i stood in front of the door, my face stinging from the fresh cut on my lip. i had hoped to avoid this, but here i was, standing on sunoo's doorstep with no real plan. i raised my hand and knocked, trying to ignore the sharp throb in my lip.

the door opened after a moment, and sunoo's face appeared. his eyes widened with concern as he took in my appearance. "jay? what happened?" he asked, stepping aside to let me in.

i stood there awkwardly as sunoo led me into his house. my face stung from the fresh cut, but i didn't really want to talk about it. i could feel the sting of embarrassment as we walked through the living room and into the bathroom.

sunoo was moving with a calm efficiency, grabbing a first aid kit from under the sink and setting it on the counter. his concern was palpable, and though i wanted to brush it off, his earnestness made it hard to do so.

"sit down," he said softly, gesturing to the slab in the middle of the room. i nodded and gingerly took a seat, trying to ignore the discomfort from the wound. sunoo was just a few inches away, his hands steady as he worked on cleaning the cut.

i watched as he expertly cleaned the wound, the silence between us stretching out. sunoo was close, his fingers brushing against my skin as he applied the bandage. i could feel the warmth of his body and the slight tremor in his hands. the intimacy of the moment was undeniable, and though it was awkward, there was a comfort in it that i hadn't expected.

"this might sting a bit," he warned, pressing a bit harder. i winced but stayed still, trying not to flinch. sunoo was focused, his brows furrowed in concentration, and i found myself drawn to his gentle demeanor.

i focused on the bandage as sunoo worked, trying to ignore the butterflies fluttering in my stomach. his touch was gentle but firm, and i could feel the warmth of his body close to mine. the faint tremor in his hands didn't escape my notice, but his concentration was clear.

the silence in the room was thick but oddly soothing. it was strange how comforting it felt to have him so close, taking care of me in a way that was both intimate and reassuring. i found myself losing track of time, absorbed in the moment and the quiet rhythm of his movements.

as sunoo carefully applied the bandage, the pain from the cut started to fade. his touch was tender, and each brush of his fingers against my skin felt both soothing and electrifying. despite the situation, a part of me couldn't help but appreciate the closeness and the way he was looking after me.

i glanced up and caught his eyes briefly. there was a soft focus in his gaze, a mixture of concern and something deeper that i couldn't quite decipher. it made me feel vulnerable in a way i wasn't used to, but it was a vulnerability i found strangely comforting.

for a moment, it was just the two of us, and everything else seemed to blur into the background. i was grateful for his presence, for his care, and for the unexpected warmth that came from this intimate, quiet moment between us.

"i'll be right back," sunoo started to say, but he was cut off when his phone rang.

my phone buzzed from the table. i glanced at the screen and saw niki's name flashing. i started to reach for it, but before i could, jay's hand shot out and picked it up. he looked at me with a mixture of determination and vulnerability.

"hello?" jay said into the phone, his voice hoarse but clear.

i froze, my heart pounding in my chest. this was the last thing i expected. i wanted to grab the phone from him, but jay's grip was firm. i could only watch, breathless and anxious, as he held the phone to his ear, waiting for niki's response. the room was filled with tension, and i could only imagine what niki might be thinking on the other end of the line.

the room was thick with tension as jay held the phone to his ear, his face still marked by the fresh cut. sunoo stood nearby, a knot of anxiety tightening in his stomach as he watched jay's interactions.

"hey, niki," jay said, his voice strained but clear. he glanced at sunoo, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "yeah, it's jay. i'm here with sunoo."

niki's voice came through the phone, muffled and distant. jay's expression shifted slightly, a glint of challenge in his eyes as he spoke. "oh, we're just hanging out," jay said casually. "sunoo was helping me with a little accident."

sunoo felt his cheeks flush, and he shifted uncomfortably. jay's attempt to make niki jealous was evident, and it was working. the playful edge in jay's voice was overshadowed by the growing tension between them.

jay continued, "you know, sunoo's really great at this. he's been taking care of me all evening." his words carried an edge, there was a pause and then jay continued.

"niki, you're still there?" jay asked, his tone dropping slightly as he continued, "yeah, i'm sure you're busy. i'm just glad sunoo's here with me."

there was a brief pause, and niki's voice grew more concerned on the other end. jay's smirk remained, though his eyes betrayed a hint of strain as he listened to niki's response.

"are you worried about me?" jay asked, a touch of mockery in his tone. "well, don't be. sunoo's been a real lifesaver."

sunoo's worry grew as he observed jay's behavior. the way jay was handling the situation was clearly affecting niki, and sunoo didn't like the way it was escalating.

the call ended abruptly, and jay hung up, still holding the phone. he turned to sunoo, his expression a mix of satisfaction and something softer that was harder to interpret.

"i guess that's that," jay said, his voice quieter now.

sunoo wanted to confront him about his behavior, but before he could, jay moved closer, his gaze fixed on sunoo's face. "you okay, sunoo?" he asked, his voice almost gentle.

sunoo was thrown off by the unexpected shift in jay's demeanor. he nodded, trying to push aside his lingering concerns. "yeah, i'm fine. but... why did you act like that with niki?"

jay's expression softened, though a hint of stubbornness remained. "i just needed to make a point. i don't want niki getting the wrong idea."

sunoo took a deep breath, a mix of relief and concern washing over him. jay's actions had been confusing, and although his intention seemed to be making niki jealous, it left sunoo feeling unsettled.

jay's hand reached out to touch sunoo's gently, a warm and reassuring gesture. "sorry if i made things weird. i just needed help."

sunoo felt the warmth of jay's touch, but the tension from earlier still lingered. he looked at jay, trying to make sense of the complicated emotions and the unfolding situation, knowing that this was just the beginning of whatever lay ahead.
