Prologue

"All of you are here?" The manager looked at the team, while Pooja said, "No Sir. Zoya isn't here yet. She is on her way. She said she is stuck in traffic."

"Everyday she comes up with some reason. She is new to Mumbai, or what? Can't she start early?" The manager asked in an irritated tone, as he looked into his laptop, "Just because she is hardworking and talented, I am ignoring all these. Anyway, the reason I have gathered you here is, we have a new member in our team from today."

Down at the building entrance, Zoya rushed to the lift, and threw the ID card around her neck, as she looked at the watch and murmured, "God! I am late again. Why can't I reach the office at least one day on time?"

The lift opened on the 14th floor, and she punched her entry and rushed to her cubicle. She saw that her entire team was missing.

She asked her colleague who was working nearby, "Isha, where is everyone from my team?"

"They are in your manager's cabin. He called for a quick meeting. You too go."

Zoya closed her eyes, "I am dead meat today! Goodness!" She left her bag there, took her notepad, and rushed to the manager's cabin.

She opened the door and looked inside, "May I come in, Sir?"

"There you are! Please come, Ma'am. We have been waiting for you only." The manager said in a sarcastic tone.

Zoya closed the door behind her with a sheepish smile, "Sir, actually I started early, but..."

"Leave it. I am tired of hearing your reasons every day. So, as I was telling everyone, you have a new team member from today. He will be the Technical Project Lead. He will be the one who will be dealing with the Project on which you are working." He looked at Zoya, "Zoya, you will be reporting to him hereafter, and I also want you to give a brief about our project and everything during the initial days."

"Okay Sir." Zoya said, while Pooja moved towards Zoya and muttered, "Good for you, Zoe. You will get a break from this grumpy fellow. I hope the new guy is interesting and free-spirited."

Zoya hit Pooja's hand, and tried to control her smile, while the door opened.

"There he is. Come in!" The manager welcomed, while everyone looked at the door and Zoya's smile vanished. Her face reddened with blood gushing to her face. Her fingers turned cold, while the manager moved forward.

"Welcome, Aditya! Nice to have you with us at Geospace. Hope you are done with the HR formalities."

"Yes Sir." Aditya nodded with a smile, while the manager pointed towards the team, "So, this is your team."

Aditya turned towards them, and his eyes stopped at Zoya. He could feel his heart thumping aloud in his chest, while he saw Zoya glaring at him. With a strong gaze, he walked towards the team, with his eyes fixated on Zoya.

The manager introduced everyone, while Aditya shook hands with them forcing a smile, while Zoya's turn came.

"This is Zoya, our Senior Software Developer. She will be assisting you for some days, Aditya."

Aditya extended his hand to her, with a stern look and a light smile, "Hi...Zoya!"

Zoya, too staring right back at him, extended her hand slowly and clutched it for a handshake, with a straight smile, "Hi Aditya!"

Their hands were cold and as their hands touched, the impact was felt on their chest. The manager got a call, and he said, "I am having a meeting now. So, carry on with your work, guys! Zoya, just join me for this meeting and then sit with Aditya and brief him. Come!"

Everyone left along with the manager, while Aditya and Zoya were still glaring at each other, with their hands still locked.

"Three years. Didn't expect you here!" Aditya said.

"Neither did I. Nor do I prefer seeing you here."

"I was never your preference, Zoya. You chose everything else, except for me."

"And you chose nothing, except yourself," Zoya said with a stare.

Aditya smirked, as he moved closer, "So, this is how it's going to be, huh? Tit for tat?"

Zoya smiled, as she moved ahead, "That's how I have been, yeah. But this time, I am going to give back worse!"

"Bring it on!" Aditya said with a smile, while Zoya shrugged her hand off his hold and stormed out of the cabin.

She walked to the washroom and locked herself inside and looked at her hand, all red and shivering. She felt his touch after 3 years; that manly hand, that strong hold. But this time was not the time to enjoy it, but hate it. But she knew it was going to be a difficult task, because she has to hate it, while she missed or maybe loved it.

She said to herself, "I hate you because you're still in my head, Aditya. Even after all these years... you never really left. But I am not going to go weak. I will show you how strong I am. I will not let you rekindle the old Zoya!"

Aditya walked to his cabin and sat on his chair, while his mind was filled with Zoya, "Seeing you again after 3 years did affect me, Zoya. But that's not going to weaken me in front of you. You want to show me worse, right? Fine. Even I am not going to step down. Let's resume from where we left. We're far from finished, Zoya."

He got up from his place and walked to the HR department, while Zoya came opposite him. Keeping their loud emotions silent, they had a fake smile, while crossing each other. Their shoulders brushed against each other, as they crossed paths. While the sparks were felt in their hearts, they tried to control it with their clenched fists, while walking away, turning back and glaring at each other.

Can you feel the heat? 🔥 I can! So, as you can see, we are gonna have sparks all over, with Aditya and Zoya's electrifying encounters. ❤️‍🔥 So, what do you think?
