"Erza-san, when are you getting married?"
"Eh?"
Erza blinks back to reality, as she stares dumbfounded at Lucy, one of her loyal customers. Had the girl just asked about her marriage? Lucy blushed red as she caught herself asking personal questions.
"I-i mean! Almost everyone our age is married, unless they're shinobi. And it's odd someone beautiful like you is still unwed, Erza-san." Lucy explains slowly then frowns "I hope my question did not upset you."
When Erza did not answer but instead kept a thoughtful look, Lucy shook her head "Please pay not attention to my question now, Erza-san!" she says, desperate to not upset the red head.
Erza shook her head and smiled "Is it really odd?" she asked, curious. The blonde; Lucy nods. "Well yeah. For us civilians, it is. It's hard to be unwed and be well off for us women as we grow old." Lucy paused then smiled at Erza
"But then again, you're pretty successful on your own, Erza-san. I don't think I've met anyone like you before. Single, Successful and earns decent earning." Lucy says, praising her. Erza blushes red at the praises and shook her head
"You're plenty successful writer yourself, Lucy!" Erza says and the blonde laughs lightly "It's because I bear a noble last name, if I wasn't Heartfilia, my novels wouldn't be recognized– sure it's now getting praise for its well writing but it wouldn't be recognized right away had I just been Lucy. And I'm married to Natsu, he's great!" Lucy explains.
Erza frowns and looks at Lucy "Even if you were just Lucy, your writing would still be recognized as great." she says, Lucy stares at Erza for a second before smiling warmly at her.
"I. . .I guess so." she admits, looking downcast with a smile.
"But is it really so odd for civilians like us to be single at the age of 27?" Erza asked, Lucy nods her head. "Not just single, but also independent, and successful. People will start questioning them, you know?" Lucy says, taking a bite of her mousse cake.
Erza slowly considers it. That's not good. I don't want to be questioned.
"I. . . I see." Erza says, her tone considerate. This made Lucy pause and stare at Erza, a knowing look on her face.
"Erza-san, what are you planning?" she asks, skeptical. Erza did not reply but only smiled at Lucy, sending chills down the blonde's spine. "No seriously, Erza-san. Don't go husband hunting now."
". . . heh."
"Erza-san!"
It was night when Erza closed the shop and went upstair to her home as she washes herself and prepares for bed sleepily, when suddenly, there was a series of knocks on her window.
Alarmed and suddenly more awake, Erza opens the window and watches as a dove summon comes inside, a parchment of paper attached to its leg.
She thanked the bird and gave it treat as it flew away, closing the window she took a seat at the edge of her bed– still in her pajamas as she unravels the scroll, greeted by the insignia of Fairy Tail.
