As Andrew stood at the threshold of his new adventure, the atmosphere was thick with emotion. His mother, Alyssa, could hardly contain her tears. “I can’t believe you’re already leaving..” she sobbed, her voice trembling with the weight of impending separation. “I’m going to miss you so much!!” Without hesitation, she rushed forward, enveloping him in a tight embrace that spoke volumes of her love and reluctance to let go.
“Come on, Alyssa,” Andrew’s dad interjected gently, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Let him go.”
“Oh, come on, just let me hold him a little longer!” she pleaded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“Mum, as much as I’m going to miss you, I really need to go,” Andrew replied, trying to strike a balance between comfort and the reality of his departure.
“My dear baby boy, when did you grow up?” Alyssa whispered, her voice thick with nostalgia as she reluctantly stepped back, wiping her tears as she returned to her husband’s side.
Andrew’s dad, ever the steady presence, wrapped an arm around Alyssa, offering her solace. He then turned to Andrew, his expression shifting to one of pride. “Make sure to inform your mother that you’ve gotten to New York safely when you arrive.”
“I will,” Andrew promised, feeling the weight of his father’s expectations.
“I’m so proud of you, son.” his dad added, a smile breaking through the somber mood.
Andrew couldn’t help but smile back, the warmth of his father’s words filling him with determination. “Goodbye, dad,” he said, before stepping over to his mother for one last hug.
“Goodbye, mum,” he echoed, his heart aching as he prepared to leave.
As he began to walk away, he paused, turning back for one final farewell. “I love you both, see you at Easter break.” With that, he stepped towards the doors, ready to embrace the unknown that awaited him.
“BYE ANDREW!” his mother called out, her voice trailing behind him, a bittersweet reminder of home as he took his first steps into a new chapter of his life.

As Andrew approached the grand entrance of the school, a wave of disbelief washed over him. “Holy moly–this is it..” he muttered, his voice laced with surprise. He paused for a moment, taking in the towering structure before him, the reality of his new life settling in.
A fleeting silence enveloped him as he contemplated sending a quick message to his mum, a habit that offered him comfort in times of uncertainty. Just as he began to pull out his phone, a loud voice broke through the tranquility. “I’M SO DEAD!”
Before he could react, a random guy collided with him, sending both of them tumbling to the ground. “Are you okay–” Andrew started, concern etching his features.
“I’M SO SORRY!” the guy exclaimed, his eyes wide with panic.
Andrew blinked in surprise, shaking his head. “It’s fine, honestly, don’t worry about it.”
The random guy stared at him for a moment, an odd silence hanging between them. “Are you okay?” Andrew asked, sensing the tension.
“YOU’RE BRITISH?!” the guy blurted out, his expression shifting from concern to astonishment.
Andrew’s face went blank, caught off guard by the unexpected reaction. He glanced at the guy, then turned on his heel, ready to walk away into the school, hoping to escape the awkward encounter.
“HEY! WAIT! COME BACK!” the random guy called after him, scrambling to his feet and chasing after Andrew, who couldn’t help but feel that this was just the beginning of an unpredictable day.

“WAIT WAIT WAIT!” the random guy shouted, sprinting in front of Andrew to block his path.
“Yes, Mr. American person?” Andrew replied, a smirk on his face.
The guy looked offended for a moment. “Sorry.. that was rude of me before. We’ve just never had someone from England here before.” His expression shifted as he processed the information. “Are you from England?”
Andrew rolled his eyes playfully. “No, I’m totally not from England; I’m totally speaking Mongolian right now,” he said with a heavy dose of sarcasm.
“I sense sarcasm. I think we’re gonna be great friends,” the guy responded, a grin breaking across his face.
Andrew couldn’t help but laugh. “The name’s Andrew,” he said, extending his hand.
“Nasser,” the guy replied, shaking Andrew’s hand enthusiastically. “I shall now show you around the school. Follow mwa.”
With a nod, Andrew fell in step behind Nasser, curious about what adventures awaited him in this new environment. As they walked through the bustling hallways, Andrew felt a flicker of excitement; perhaps this day wouldn’t be so bad after all.
