Restrictedly Loving You

Cassandra couldn't have come in at a time worse than that. She literally ruined it.
I was just starting to talk to Diana since the check up was almost done but her entry ruined it all.
I think Diana felt Cassy's lack of pleasure on her visit and was in a hurry to leave.

As usual Cassy is on Dad's side on this. Well on everything. She is an absolute people pleaser. She can do anything to please Dad. Like throwing her own brother under the bus. The time when it came to take my side in front of Dad when I was requesting to go and complete my studies in New York she literally tried to convince me on not going and to do as he said.
But she loves me to bits I have to give her that. After Mom passed away in an accident she being my older sister took care of me and Melissa when Dad was devastated and wasn't in the condition to comfort us. Therefore I can never say no to her.

"Mikel listen Dad is not happy with your doing so be very careful. He is in a bad mood and can even take away your rights on the crown after him." She said almost glaring at me.
"I don't care. I don't want the crown."

"Shut it Mikel. You know very well Dad is not doing well and wants to retire soon but you not wanting to stay here made him doubt if you are capable or not and was planning to let Zaya take his place. I had to take on real trouble to make him rethink his idea."
"But you know that he will not make me the Crown Prince. He hates everything I do." I looked at her with doubt .
"Well that's because you are careless and ignorant sometimes. But you already know why I urgently called you here right?" She asked.
"Yes you want me to be the Crown Prince as you are getting engaged in three days and married soon so you require me to take over the throne after Dad." I answered.
"Yes. So don't do anything nonsense and stay away from the woman. I have a feeling you are planning something fishy." She gave me a look that said behave.
"No not at all. I wanted her to do the check up because she did my treatment before and is good at her job. That's it please hold your horses Cassy." I said feeling nervous because I am well aware she can literally read my mind.
"As you say. I still have some trust left in you so please let me keep it. As I have to entrust you with the responsibilities of the Country, Dad, and Melissa (my younger sister) when I leave." She gave me a sorry look as she knows that I dislike the duty she is giving me. With that she left the room.

As she left and I was alone I started thinking to myself. It's not that I don't want to take responsibility, not look after Dad and Melissa. Is that the title of the Crown Prince and the King comes with restrictions more than I ever had. I don't want to live a restricted life were I even have restrictions on the way I walk because there's always people who want to find faults in me and paparazzi are going have a field day with my reckless attitude. I want to be free. Then again I am the only one in line for the Throne if I don't take it the Crown that my family preserved for decades will go to my cousin brother Zaya. So I have no choice. But I have never said this to Cassy that even if I take over the Throne I will not give up on my life. I will rule in my own ways.
That kinda cheered me up and brought a smile on me. Then a thought came into my mind. A way to distract me from the upcoming duties. I picked up my phone from the side table and started typing a text message. I clicked on send and a grin appeared on my face.

BTW guys don't be confused Cassandra is Cassy That's her nickname. That's what Adrian(maybe Melissa in the future)calls her. And Mikel is Adrian.
