Cora's pov

I sit outside on the porch as the sun comes up, the air still cold and tight and deep snow on the ground like always. Can't believe this winter snowed so much, yeah we normally get snow but not this much. I sip my coffee and watch as the sun comes up, the light not changing anything as it's still dark and dull out. After I finished my coffee I stand up and place my empty cup onto the table beside me. I have a long day today as I need extra money, meaning working late if I want to get the medicine my grandma needs. I head off into the woods, going towards the town. My boots crunching the snow and making a a satisfying sound every time as I walk to town. The day goes like usual and I just pickup the jobs I can for today, like cutting wood or shoveling snow, stuff like that. Normally I head home a few hours before the sun goes down but today I needed more money so I didn't stop doing jobs until about an hour after the sun set, I didn't go straight home instead I stopped by the pharmacy and knocked on the metal window cover thing and after a moment Keith opens it and gives me a worried look "that bad eh?" He asks "just want her to feel better, could I get some cold medicine?" I mumble as I take out my money and he nods, disappearing then coming back after a moment "how much?" I ask and he sets the medicine on the counter "40." He stated as he looked me up and down, some weird smirk on his face for once. I'm handed him the money and grabbed the medicine and left.

I was sleeping peacefully but banging on the door woke me up and I got out of bed kind of pissed at who's knocking and that's when I looked outside, lines of teenagers and women at the palace, all female's and that's when I realized the triplets are doing a round up of all the women. I quickly walk out of my room and see my grandma standing in the living room by the door and she turns to me when she sees me "look sweetie there's many things you don't know but everything will come to you soon. Be strong and never let anyone scare you, don't underestimate your own power" her voice was filled with concern and seriousness at the same time, making me confused "what? What do you mean?" I try to let her hear my voice over the banging "damnit you mutts open the door! Old woman we know your granddaughter is over 16 now so open the hell up!" The triplets most trusted worker  yelled as the banging stopped and she pushed me to the back door "run sweetie, shift and run, far, far away from here." She whispered and grabbed a knife from the kitchen when she finally stopped pushing me "but Nana-" she cuts me off "no, run sweetie, get away from here, find your parents and they'll explain." She gently brushed a strand of my hair out of my face and turned back to the front door, gripping the knife.
