This is to inform everyone that the Carl x Japanese boy letter is an excerpt from a fictional romance story written by a student from the UP College of Arts and Letters (CAL) for a writing activity.
Although, it was indeed fictional but might as well tell everyone the inspiration behind the story. (For closure lol)
Well, it was based from the experience of my uncle who became friends with a Japanese exchange student from Ateneo. My mother said that they were really close friends, and would often hangout in the sunken garden after class. It was their routine to watch the sunset together consistently until the japanese boy finished his term in Ateneo.
All this time the Japanese boy believed that my uncle is a UP Fine Arts student but he was not.
Carl, my uncle, was a teenage kid suffering from heart disease and a patient at The Philippine Heart Center (hospital near UP Diliman.)
It was his dying wish to live a normal life for a while and experience the life of becoming an arts student at UP, something that the Japanese boy never knew because he left without saying goodbye to Carl.
7 days after passing they received a mail from Japan. My mother barely recalls the content but she said it was a confession of love.
This is where the fictional letter I wrote came from.
