Isabella fell back into the chair, the weight of the revelation crashing down on her. The word "Alpha" echoed in her mind, reverberating with an intensity that made her head spin. The Alpha. The leader of the Moonshadow Tribe, Alaric. Her mate. Her destined partner. The realization hit her again and again, like waves relentlessly breaking against the shore.
She looked up at Fenrir, the Beta, her eyes wide with shock and confusion. "Wait... so the jobs I've been doing...?"
Fenrir met her gaze with a steady expression. "Yes, Isabella," he said gently. "They are the jobs for our Luna. You've been doing amazing, even if you didn't know it."
Her mind raced as she tried to piece everything together. "Does everyone know?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Fenrir nodded. "Yes, they all know. It was becoming more and more unusual that you and the Alpha hadn't come together. The council has been getting worried. The Alpha needs his Luna, Isabella."
Isabella felt her world tilt as she sat there, stunned by the gravity of what she was hearing. "What does this mean?" she asked, her voice trembling. "What happens now?"
Fenrir's expression softened as he answered, "It means it's time for you to become the Luna. We need to hold the Luna Ceremony."
Panic surged through Isabella. "What? You can't make me do this!" she exclaimed, her voice rising with fear and disbelief. "It's not a choice, unfortunately," Fenrir said, his tone regretful but firm. "To keep the peace, you must do this."
"But I've never even spoken to the Alpha!" Isabella protested, her thoughts swirling in chaos. "I don't know him. He's... he's cold."
Fenrir shook his head, his eyes filled with understanding. "I know this is a lot to take in, Isabella. But Alaric isn't as cold as he seems. He has a lot of responsibilities, and he's been waiting for this moment just as much as you have. He's been patient, giving you time, but now that the truth is out, the bond between you two must be acknowledged."
Isabella's heart pounded in her chest. The idea of becoming the Luna—the mate to the Alpha, the leader of this tribe—was overwhelming. She had spent her entire life in a different world, with different expectations, and now she was being thrust into a role she had never imagined for herself.
"I... I don't know if I can do this," she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes.
Fenrir stepped closer, his presence calming. "You're stronger than you think, Isabella. You've already proven that. The tribe believes in you, and so does the Alpha. This ceremony isn't just about fulfilling a role—it's about embracing who you are meant to be, and who you are meant to be with."
Isabella swallowed hard, her mind still reeling. "But what if I'm not ready? What if I fail?"
Fenrir's expression softened further, and he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "You won't fail, Isabella. You have the heart of a Luna—you've shown that in everything you've done for the tribe. The ceremony is just the beginning of your journey, not the end."
Isabella sat there, absorbing his words, the reality of her situation settling into her bones. She had never asked for this, never wanted it, but now it was staring her in the face, impossible to ignore. The weight of her new responsibilities pressed down on her, but she knew there was no turning back.
As she looked up at Fenrir, she realized that this was her life now—this tribe, this role, this bond with the Alpha. And despite the fear, despite the uncertainty, she knew she had to face it.
"Okay," she said finally, her voice steadying. "I'll do it."
Fenrir smiled, a warm and genuine smile that made Isabella feel just a little bit stronger. "Good," he said softly. "The Alpha will be pleased. We'll prepare for the Luna Ceremony. You won't be alone in this, Isabella. We'll all be with you, every step of the way."
Isabella nodded, the enormity of her decision settling in. She wasn't sure what the future held, but she knew that she had to face it head-on. She would become the Luna, and she would do it with as much courage and strength as she could muster.
And somewhere deep inside, she hoped that in the process, she might come to understand the man who was her mate, the Alpha who had waited patiently for her—Alaric.
