The sound of railroads clacking was the only thing resonating in the small cabin he found himself in, far away from familiar land. Soon he'd be a stranger to his surroundings, becoming a diffrent man, but it didn't bother him, he did not care, since he never belonged anywhere. His life had been a mystery even for himself, ever since he was found in that field near gristle nothing remained, not a memory found. A voice interrupted the silence he was in, his gaze shooting up to Puffy;
"How are you feeling, any thoughts about going to Whitepine?" She sounded curious, but there was that usual stoicism in it. „I uh- don't know." He answered head empty. „You do know what's happening tho, right?" The question was simple, but it's seriousness was evident in her tone. "Yes." He knew what was ahead of him, sort of you know. „That's good, the ride to Emberton will take a while, I'll see if I can find anything to entertain yourself with in the meantime." Before he could speak up she was out the door, the grayish sky casting shadows across the floor as he faced the window once more.
Landscapes faded into specks of colours, quickly passing by without the chance to fully materialise and be admired by passerby's, nature holds beauty yet it's overlooked everyday, people tend to rarely appreciate. Tommy's way of perception had always been strange, drawn to forests and plains he wandered through their wakes, what was so appealing about them he did not know, was it the crows picking at dead worms, or the whispers of the wind, alluring yet terrifying in their own way? "Here, I've brought you a book." He hadn't even noticed Puffy's arrival until she spoke, he must've been really lost, reality fading back in a seconds matter as he grabbed the novel and thanked her, starting to read the first pages and letting time fly by.
Few hours later their destination had been reached, he followed Puffy outside, crossing the bridge in the bustling central station they were in and heading towards the main hall, where he waited for his caretaker to quickly discuss some matters before leaving the place and getting greeted by rain and storm, through which they'd walk in silence and he the one who ignores went back to his own little world. That's Tommy to you, someone who prefers to live in imagination and quiet, rarely speaking up, always compliant.
When the estate revealed itsself before him, ironically surrounded by the trees that beared the same name as the city and a large fountain in front of it, pathways carving themselves through the well taken care of grass, he only had a moment to admire it, stepping into the structure with no expectation of what's to come or what's to be, striving through the corridor and into a room that was surrounded by bookshelves and illuminated by a candle's light, a man standing behind what looked like a reception, book and quill on it, a thing that'd seal his fate in the end.
"So you are... Theseus, correct?" He asked, eyeing him with not too much interest. "Tommy, sir." He corrected, he did not know why he had been called Theseus, but for now he didn't mind.
