The room buzzed with lively conversation, but Ahaan's mind was elsewhere. Every few moments, his eyes would dart to the top of the staircase, anticipation coursing through him like electricity. Time seemed to stretch, as if the world had slowed just for him. His pulse quickened, and then—there she was.
Pankti appeared at the top of the stairs, her presence immediately commanding his attention. She was dressed in a soft, sky-blue suit that seemed to shimmer under the gentle lights, accentuating her delicate features. The simplicity of her attire only amplified her natural beauty, with her hair flowing loosely down her shoulders, the front strands carefully twisted and pinned back with a dainty bow clip. She exuded a quiet grace, her shy demeanor enhancing her ethereal charm.
Ahaan's breath hitched, his gaze locking onto her as if the entire room had faded away. She descended the stairs slowly, her steps light, almost as if she were floating. On either side of her were Swara and Ruhi, but Ahaan only had eyes for Pankti.
His heart pounded in his chest, and he felt an unfamiliar nervousness creeping up inside him. Kartik, sitting beside him, noticed the shift in his demeanor—the way Ahaan's normally confident self had become completely undone in Pankti's presence. With a knowing grin, Kartik followed Ahaan's gaze and smirked, clearly enjoying the sight of his best friend in this vulnerable state.
Ruhi, ever the mischievous one, caught Ahaan's awestruck expression. She lifted her eyebrows in a playful, teasing gesture, silently asking, "How does she look?" Ahaan, realizing he had been caught, immediately glanced down, his cheeks warming as a blush crept across his face. He gave a small, bashful smile, trying to hide how utterly mesmerized he was. But the truth was written all over his face—Pankti had completely captivated him.
As Pankti reached the bottom of the stairs, Ishita's face lit up with pure affection. She stood up gracefully, her eyes soft with pride and love. "Bohot pyaari hai hamari Pankti," Ishita whispered, her voice tender as she kissed Pankti's forehead. Pankti's cheeks flushed slightly at the compliment, her shy smile making her look even more angelic.
Ishita gently guided her to sit next to her, and Swara and Ruhi flanked her, creating a picture of warmth and togetherness. The boys sat across from them, and though the room was filled with chatter, Ahaan felt like he was in a bubble. Every few moments, his eyes would drift back to Pankti, unable to resist her quiet allure.
Each stolen glance made his heart race. There was something about her—perhaps the gentle curve of her smile or the way her eyes held both innocence and depth—that made Ahaan's breath catch every time. He couldn't explain it, but in that moment, he was lost in her presence. The world around them faded, and all that remained was the quiet rhythm of his heartbeat, syncing with the unspoken connection he felt growing between them.
