I take my first steps into the tall grass of Route One. I immediately step on a Kantoian Rattata's tail, and it let out its battle cry. The Mouse Pokémon hissed at me. I flinched, but it's not like this hasn't happened before. Besides, this regional variant of Rattata looked... Less menacing. I sent out my Alolan Geodude and called out a move.

"Geodude! Use Defense Curl!"

Geodude curled itself into a ball, and an aura surrounded him. His defense raised. Immediately after that, the Rattata used Tackle, not very effective..

"You okay Geodude?"

"Geo!!"

Geodude used Rollout once, twice, three, four, and five times! The Rattata is on low health. I put my finger to my chin. I already have a regular Rattata from Alola, why should I catch this one? Maybe I could have a collection of regional form Rattata and Raticate! That would be cool. I returned Geodude and take out a Pokéball.

"Alright! Go Pokéball!"

I threw the ball at the Rattata, and it went inside. One shake, two shakes, three shakes... Rattata was caught! Let's go!

I run over to the ball and send out the now healed up Rattata. I take my Pokédex out of my pocket and scan the mouse.

"Rattata, The Mouse Pokémon. This Pokémon bites when it attacks. Small and very quick, it is a common sight in many places"

"Huh, that must be the entry for Kantoian Rattata. Well.. I might as well continue!"

I continue walking. I talked to a guy who works in the Pokémart in Viridian City. He gave me a sample, and then I kept going. I look at a tree and see some sort of bird sleeping peacefully. This must be the first new species I will catch!

This time, I sent out my starter, Bulbasaur. It immediately knows what to do and two vines came out from beneath its bulb. It whips the bird, knocking it out of its sleep and onto the tall grass.

"POKÉBALL!!!"

I yell as I threw a curveball that landed right on the bird's beak, and trapping it inside the ball. There were three shakes, before the Pokéball clicked, signaling that I caught the Pokemon.

"Pidgey, The Tiny Bird Pokémon. A common sight in forests and woods. It flaps its wings at ground level to kick up blinding sand"

I smile, so did Bulbasaur as I returned it. I look at the Pokéball I caught the Pidgey in, and send it out. It let out a loud chirp before floating next to me. I continue walking, catching a Bellsprout and Oddish on my way.

"Oddish, The Weed Pokémon. During the day, it keeps its face buried in the ground. At night, it wanders around sowing its seeds."

"Bellsprout, The Flower Pokémon. A carnivorous Pokémon that traps and eats bugs. It uses its root feet to soak up the needed moisture"

Once I got north of Route One, I look at the beautiful Viridian City. It was getting dark. I head over to the Pokémon center. I look at my full team, consisting of Pichu, Geodude, Bulbasaur Rattata, Oddish, and Bellsprout. Which Pokémon will I need? Well.. The first gym is a rock type, and the second is water, that's what Papa told me. Now between Bulbasaur, Oddish, and Bellsprout?... Well... I'll just use Bulbasaur... Now for the third gym.. Electric is weak to ground... so maybe I could find a ground Pokémon somewhere. I check my map and point at Diglett's Cave.

"Eureka! I'll be prepared for all the gyms in no time!.. Now.. I could either head to Route 22, or Route 2.. But that leads into Viridian Forest, and bugs during the day are fine.. but at night.. brr..."
