Mystic Falls 1999: Autumn Lockwood, Age 7

     Autumn tossed and turned in her princess themed bed unable to fall asleep. During the past 24-hours she had seen two men dressed in old clothes appear, staring at her as if she couldn't see them, but then they'd disappear. Unlike any other second grader Autumn did not run to her parents out of fear. She knew exactly what they'd say already. "You're just making this up for attention Autumn," Her mother would say with a roll of her eyes and go back to fussing over Tyler. So Autumn kept these strange encounters to herself.

      "Can't she just fall asleep already! I need clothes with a lack of bloodstains on them. Why must Niklaus always dagger me when I'm feeding?" The strange man shouts, not thinking Autumn could hear him. Autumn shoots up from her bed and frantically turns a light on. She is met with the two men that haunted her throughout the day. Yet she didn't feel threatened, somehow she felt safe or even whole for the first time.

        "Oh dear, Kol you've frightened her!" The other man scolds, rubbing the bridge of his nose. Autumn furrows her eyebrows taking in each and every detail her seven year old brain can take in.

       "Hello Angel, My name is Kol." The younger looking man with the blood stained clothing says. Autumn rubs her eyes sleepily still wondering if this is even real.

       "Autumn you must excuse my brother's behavior, he is what you'd now call a man child from what I've heard. My name is Finn." To the vampire brothers shock Autumn smiles up at them.

Mystic Falls 2006: Autumn Lockwood, Age 14

      "Finn, I'm really scared," Autumn admits, fidgeting at her vanity desk. Today is Autumns first day of freshman year and as expected she is very nervous. Finn, sitting on her queen sized bed, ponders what advice he could give the hormonal teenage girl in front of him. Autumn was a ball of nerves and insecurities which is expected at age fourteen. With her mouth full of braces to the pimples on her cheeks Autumn feels very little self confidence.

      Before Finn can speak Kol decides to give his "advice" instead. "Don't worry Angel, if anybody is mean to you I'll steal their lunch money and shove them in a trash can!" Kol has very little knowledge of teenagers in this new century. Everything Kol and Finn had learned was mainly through movies and tv shows Autumn watched, considering Autumn lacked a social life they didn't have much else to learn from. Kols effort to cheer Autumn up worked resulting in her releasing a giggle from her plump lips.

     "Thank you Kol, that helped a lot," Autumn says with a genuine smile. As Autumn got up from her vanity her mother barged into her room.

      "Autumn we are leaving in twenty minutes and quit talking to yourself, you're far too loud," Carol snaps at her daughter and is out as quick as she came in. Finn and Kol both scoff in unison. If there's one thing the brothers can agree on is their hatred for Autumns mother.

A/N: Hey everyone thank you for checking out my first TVD fanfiction!! I'd really love some feedback (you can be honest). Just for some extra background nobody knows about Kol and Finn and this book has the mates trope with each Mikealson brother and Autumn. Nothing romantic happens until the TVD plot line begins between them. She is also connected to Klaus and Elijah through dreams. The brothers know she is their mate but she doesn't since she is human (for now!!).
