"That...was actually really unexpected." Glimmer awkwardly laughed, looking at Fern. The shy girl bent her head down.
"I know," she said, "It's just...he's so sweet and caring, and Blaze is just a flirt."
"Got it." Relief filled Glimmer's eyes, luckily not noticed by Fern. "Ready to head back? All the guys are at practice, we're all planning to go watch."
"Okay."
Walking to join everyone on the bleachers, they found the comedy duo sharing cheesy jokes; but, that was usual. The unusual thing they found, Jewel actually paying attention to the practice. She was watching somewhat in a daze.
Glimmer snuck up behind her. "You like football?" Her voice made the diva jump.
"Huh? What? No~...I just- y'know- I was-"
"You were...?"
"I like their uniforms." she slowly said.
"Right."
Jewel sighed, and Fern noticed something must be bothering her. "You know, if something's bothering you, I'm here."
"I can't say it right here-" she started, right before Glimmer cut her off.
"She still likes Blitz. There."
"She what?!" Her green hair swished as she turned to Glimmer.
"I do not!"
"Stop denying it." the geek smartly said.
"Fine; yes, I do."
The conversation stopped when Blitz and Blaze jogged up, laughing. Fern sighed when Blaze approached her. He hugged her, afterwards letting her go, other than his arm around her shoulders. She shifted uncomfortably. "Glad you came to watch, Fern." he smiled, but she just nodded.
"Hey~ Diva~!"
"Hi~ Clu~tz!"
While they glared and grinned through their greeting, a group of cheerleaders giggled their way up to Blitz. The front one, obviously the leader, had the golden hair of sun and the blue eyes of sky. Her skin was perfectly smooth, she was probably thought of as 'perfect'.
"Hello, Blitz." she swiftly moved towards him. He raised an eyebrow.
"Hey Eleana."
"You seem to look better than last year...I saw you practicing out there, too."
"Yeah, I got on the team."
"Nice; meet me after school."
"Okay..."
She walked away with a grin, smirking a look towards Jewel. The crystal haired girl just rolled her eyes, looking away. Blaze let go of Fern, her breath sighing in relief. They fist-pumped as Adam came up the bleachers. Blaze nor Blitz seemed to notice Adam, which put an annoyed look on his face.
"Hi, Adam." Fern quietly waved, motioning him over. He finally smiled, and went to sit by her. She softly smiled back. "So how was practice?"
"Blitz hung out with Blaze the whole time, so..."
"Oh, what a shame. Well, at least, um, I'm here, yes?"
"Of course, Fern; you're pretty cool."
"I am?"
"You are."
Blaze peeked over at Adam, redness finding it's way to his face out of anger. Blitz just laughed, right when the bell rang for the end of the school day. Fern chose to walk with the country boy, but his cousin tried to take her away. She politely denied Blaze's offer and continued to leave with Adam.
Adam rubbed the back of his neck, looking upwards then at Fern. She was running her fingers through her spring leaf hair, watching her surroundings. As she turned her head, she caught him staring at her.
"Something wrong?"
"Nothin'."
"Come on, tell me."
"You know you're pretty, right?"
"Oh, seriously, tell me."
"Okay. you're pretty."
She formed a grin, smiled, then laughed. "I'm not kidding." his voice made her stop laughing. She just stared for a while, until he took one of her hands into his.
"I know it's the first day of Freshman year, but...will you, er-"
"Yes."
"Wait, what? Seriously?"
"Yes," She repeated, with a big grin, "I will."
