WARNING: MILD ROMANCE
I blinked slowly.
"Dinner?" I asked.
He chuckled and leaned down to me.
"Yes, dinner. I made us something special. Come on, let's eat." He said offering his hand to me.
This is the first time since I sprained it that I really wanted to try walking. I swung my legs over the side of the bed and put some weight on my ankle. It was most stable for the most part. He grinned as he watched me try to stand up, grabbing my hand.
"Guess that release from earlier really sped up my recovery," I said laughing.
"Looks like it did. I'm glad you're feeling better. I was a little worried about your ankle, but it seems like its healing nicely." He said.
"Can you help me walk to dinner?" I asked him.
"Of course, Kitten. Here, lean on me. I'll help you walk to the dining room." He said offering me his arm.
Still in my pajamas from earlier, I allowed him to help me hobble to the dining room. Luckily it wasn't that far, though we did opt to take the elevator instead of the stairs. He holds me close as we walk to the dining room, supporting my weight and making sure I didn't stumble. He guided me to a chair and helped me sit down before taking a seat next to me at the head of the table.
"Here we are. I hope you're hungry," he said smiling.
The room was just like the rest of Onychinus compound, dark and moody, just like Sylus. It was only dimly lit by candlelight. Sylus grinned proudly as he started serving the food sitting underneath some cloches.
"What did the chef make for us tonight?" I asked.
Sylus chuckled for a moment.
"The chef didn't prepare anything for dinner tonight...I did. I'm not much of a chef, but I made some steak, mashed potatoes, and a small salad. It's not gourmet, but it's edible," he said confidently.
He grabbed my plate and put some mashed potatoes, steak, and salad. My eyes widened looking at the delicious meal, that he took the time to prepare just for us.
"There you go. Bon appetit." he said smiling.
"Sylus! This looks incredible!" I said smiling as he finished placing the plate in front of me.
The meal looked straight out of the Julia Childs cookbooks. It was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. He didn't give himself enough credit. As I take a bite of steak my eyes roll in the back of my head savoring the flavor.
"Holy shit..Sylus..this is great." I said happily.
He chuckles at at my reaction, clearly pleased with himself.
"You really think so? I'm glad you like it. I've always enjoyed cooking, but I never had the chance to show off my skills before," he said.
"I have to admit, I'm not the best at cooking, and my partner who comes to my house so often, he has a tendency to always get the smoke alarm going," I said reminiscing.
Sylus raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"Oh really? Your partner is that bad of cook?" he asked.
"Yeah absolutely terrible, and that's okay." I chuckled.
Just then I realized I never told Sylus about my work partner, Xavier, before. He noticed the realization in my eyes and tilted his head curiously.
"You've never mentioned your partner before. Is he someone important to you?" he asked.
