DANIEL SAT ON MAX'S COUCH, LOOKING AROUND WITH A PUZZLED EXPRESSION.

"Mate, where's your other cat?" he asked. "Which one do you mean?" Max raised a brow at him. "I can't tell your cats apart," Daniel rolled his eyes. "But I know I only see one here." He gestured at the cat lounging in the corner. "Two if we count you," he added with a smirk.

Max sighed, standing up and heading to the kitchen. He grabbed a bag of cat food and gave it a shake. Instantly, Jimmy darted out from under the table, drawn by the familiar sound. Max shook the bag again, louder this time, but his other cat didn't show up.

"Fuck where is she?" Max cursed under his breath. Abandoning Jimmy who was scratching at his legs. He started checking each room, wondering if Sassy had locked herself in somewhere.

"I think she jumped over the balcony," he said suddenly, leaning over to peer out the window. He spotted his neighbor, looking around somewhat bemused.

"Excuse me!" Max called out. "Did my cat jump over to your place?" The blonde towards him. "Yeah, I think he did," Zara said. "I'm so sorry! I'll come get her," Max said quickly, rushing to the door.

As it turned out, Sassy had indeed leaped onto Zara's balcony and made herself comfortable-right on top of Zara's laptop, hindering her from finishing her email. Zara had tried to move her, but Sassy hissed in protest, leaving her with no option but to look outside and locate the cat's owner.

When Zara opened the door, the first thing that struck Max was the warm smile she gave him, lighting up her features. She had her long blonde hair that weren't tied up. "I'm so sorry about my cat," Max blurted even before Zara could say anything.

Zara's heart skipped a beat. His voice was warm, and his easy-going demeanor immediately caught her attention. She quickly pulled herself together and returned the smile, hoping he didn't notice the slight flush on her cheeks. She's seen him just yesterday in the lift and felt that he was good looking but seeing him close up made her heart race for no reason.
