hate.

I hate the way I walk - I hate the way I dress,
I hate the way you make me feel I always look a mess.
I hate the way I'm always expected to clean up after you,
Once I've been told I look like I'm 'eating for two'.
The way I have to conform to your beauty standards,
After I've been shamed for your lack of manners.
I hate how you look at me, like I'm some sort of food,
Like the way I dress can determine your mood.
You don't get that I dress like this for myself,
Because the comments I get make my life a living hell.
The way we're expected to exist under your patriarchal tyranny,
Meanwhile to yous the movement seems like an epiphany.
When it's one one change, of justice,
Against your reign of malice.
One of liberation, one of salvation,
So the next world our daughters live in isn't one of intimidation,
Against the world leaders that are meant to protect us,
Meanwhile we're conditioned to believe we're kicking up a fuss.
After we've spent generations fighting against your power,
And all we're expected to receive is a flower?
And I don't hate all men, I really mean it,
But when a boy sees my work and tells me to quit?
All I can see is anger and pain,
And suddenly all the feminist riots occur in my brain.
Telling me to carry on, to push, and to shove,
Because they never got to experience my type of love.
Of literature, of books,
And the storyline hook.

I do this for women who couldn't,
For those who's families told them 'they shouldn't'.
Because in a women's world noone would tell us what we can and can't do,
As then, an educated woman woukd never have been so taboo.
