In the days following, Sukuna didn't reach out about their usual gaming sessions, and Megumi didn't press the matter. Whether it was from the investigation or from Megumi's accidental Freudian slip of the towel, Megumi couldn't be sure. His mind was rather occupied by the towel (or lack thereof) and was therefore eternally convinced that Sukuna was disgusted and appalled by the very sight of him.

The most Megumi saw of Sukuna was when he was cooking, which was now done late at night and left in neatly-packed and stored containers in the refrigerator. As much as Megumi's tender ego demanded to sequester himself in his room, he forced himself in the dead of night to head down to the kitchen for fresh water.

It was there he found Sukuna at the stove in his signature basketball shorts and a tank top. Hip leant against the counter, phone in hand, spatula in the other.

He looked up at the sound of Megumi's quiet entrance. Megumi raised his (mostly) empty water bottle in a silent gesture of his intent.

He fetched the filtered pitcher from the fridge and poured. Sukuna set his phone aside and focused on the food. Megumi wondered if this was done with the intent to focus on a conversation instead.

Megumi cleared his throat. "Smells good."

"It better," Sukuna said.

Megumi screwed the top on his bottle back on and wandered over to investigate. He kept a sizable distance between them. "Can I try some?"

"Not done yet," Sukuna said.

With a tight sigh, Megumi screwed his lips shut and glared at Sukuna's profile. Sukuna was resolute in facing the pan, spatula working the stir fry as though Megumi wasn't staring at him. Sukuna's eye twitched before his eyes slid over to squint at him. "Go to bed."

Megumi relented. He returned the pitcher to its rightful place in the fridge before jogging up the steps to his room where sleep continued to evade him. Reading had been an impossible task for him that week and it was only Tuesday. Lying awake with nothing to occupy him, however, just brought him back to the split second he'd spent naked on top of Sukuna and—

Megumi collapsed onto his bed, hands over his face. He slapped his cheeks a few times, which did nothing to help the heat flaring to the surface.

He turned onto his side and reached for his phone. He needed something to do, and if reading wasn't cutting it, he'd just... watch something. Without thinking, he gravitated to Choso's latest videos chronicling his travels abroad.

The latest update was just from the previous day recapping the team's tournament weekend. Megumi knees curled up, settling in for the watch with his cheek to the pillow. Choso's familiar face, coupled with his usual squad of people—Geto and now Todo—were a comforting distraction from the turmoil in Megumi's head.

Watching Choso's streams was an infrequent occurrence. He enjoyed watching, but truthfully, it had been years since Megumi's own Valorant addiction that had first spawned Yuji's confession about his cousin being a famous streamer. They'd been in early junior high and Megumi had been starstruck—though Yuji would argue that Megumi was still starstruck. He'd nearly fainted the first time he met Choso in person.

Back then, Choso's closest friend was Geto. Together, they flanked the core member of their competitive e-sports team that Megumi rarely followed along on. There were a dozen or so members now, but Megumi's focus was always solely on Choso. After all, he knew Choso. He didn't know Geto, and later, he didn't know Todo.

But all of them orbited around their faceless teammate: a Valorant god by the name King.

Choso's weekend recap was the first in years that didn't include his infamous teammate in the background. King had always been a private person, rarely spoke even on videos and stream—his playing did all the talking for him, after all—but now, after years of consistent wins and a godly reputation, the core member of Choso's team was missing. " Personal leave ," every one of their teammates would say when people pestered in chat about where King was.
