"I suggest you call that family back up and tell them that you will not be making this little dinner party. Or better yet, we'll find that girl here and tell her that you can't make it."

I ran a hand down my face as I sat in the sofa the next morning as the Colonel, Daddy and Jerry were with me in the living room area of the suit. The Colonel finally caught wind of this plan of mine and wasn't happy about it. I droned, annoyed, "She doesn't work today, and I can go and do my own thing, Colonel. There's no harm in makin' some new friends and sharin' a piece of me that I hold close to my heart."

Daddy came into the picture and said, "I don't think it's a bad idea, Colonel. He's done this before, visiting people's houses."

"Yes, but those people didn't have a daughter who can ruin this boy's image. As innocent as it is, and while the intentions are good, it will result in maybe a newspaper article regarding him being involved with a girl just out of her teens."

"I already told the press that's not the case," I shot. "Honestly, this isn't a big deal. I'm goin' to this thing on Sunday, and Jerry's comin' with me."

Jerry perked up like a cat as he sat in the armchair near the sofa. "Hold on, I'm going with you, EP? I thought you were just taking Vernon along."

"Daddy can come to if he wants, but I wanna take you as well. I'm sure both you and Gena will appreciate it." I winked, and he blushed then smiled. I said to the Colonel, "I promise it will be harmless. And the family knows what they're gettin' themselves into."

The Colonel threw his hands up in the air. "Alright, fine. But if this goes south..."

"It will be fine," I droned. "Really, stop your worryin'. So, when I'm there, I'm thinkin' of givin' 'em these."

I took a red envelope out of my suit coat pocket and handed them to Jerry who opened it and pulled out its contents. His brows rose. "Whoa, five VIP tickets to your next show! Hot dang, they're gonna jump through the roof!"

"Wow, that was thoughtful of you, Son," Dad commented, and I shrugged and smirked, feeling a bit prideful.

"Yes, very thoughtful," said the Colonel, still not too pleased with all this. "But I thought there were only four people in Miss Brenton's family."

"I gave 'em an extra ticket for a friend or whoever else they wanna take with 'em," I said. "They will be right up near the stage, close and personal. And I was thinkin' that maybe I could make it so Amelia's friend Brenda can come along with."

"Wait, the girl in Seattle?" asked Jerry as he handed me back the envelope, and I put it back in my suit pocket. "Isn't she busy with college?"

"I think she'll make time to come down and visit her best friend, right?" I asked with a twinkle in my eye. Really, she would mainly come down since she's a huge fan of mine. "I'll just send the funds. Or better yet, I'll buy the plane ticket."

"This is an awful big fuss for your new young friend," said the Colonel in that tone.

"I've done crazier stuff, and you all know that. When I'm at Amelia's place, we'll plan it all out. Now, let's get goin'. I want the time to pass so Sunday can come quickly."

I stood up out of the sofa, and Jerry and Daddy followed me out, and the Colonel came a few seconds after, shaking his head. Yes, this was nuts, what I had planned, but it was something that I felt like I should do for Amelia and her family after what they've been through with worrying about Amelia and Amelia herself experiencing being pushed around. I wanted to make her life and her family's lives brighter. No one knew, though, that I wanted to buy Amelia and her sister an apartment. I felt like I should do that, too, just as an extra gift.
