The next time Lily visited the library, she made a beeline for the mystery section. After her meeting with Spencer, she felt a surge of confidence—like she was on the brink of discovering something amazing. She picked out a new book, eager to dive into another mystery.
As she flipped through the pages, though, something strange happened. Tucked between two chapters was a small, folded piece of paper. It wasn't part of the book. Her heart raced as she unfolded it carefully, revealing a handwritten note:
"To the curious reader,
Books hold more than just words. Look closely, and you'll find the key to something hidden.
—S.R."Lily's eyes widened. Could this be from Spencer Reid? Was this another mystery?
She quickly packed up the book and the note, her mind spinning with excitement. She had just become part of a real mystery, and she was determined to solve it.

Lily's mind buzzed with excitement the whole walk home from the library. The note in her pocket felt like a hidden treasure—something only she knew about. The handwriting was neat and precise, and she was almost certain it was from Spencer. But what was he trying to tell her?
Once she got home, Lily sat at her desk and carefully unfolded the note again. She read it slowly, studying each word like it was part of a larger puzzle.
"Books hold more than just words. Look closely, and you'll find the key to something hidden."
What could it mean?
Lily glanced at the book she'd borrowed, The Mystery of the Lost Manor. It was a classic mystery story, one she hadn't read yet. Could the book itself be the key Spencer was talking about?
Without wasting any time, Lily opened the book and began to flip through the pages, searching for anything unusual. The pages were crisp and clean, no scribbles or marks that didn't belong. But when she reached Chapter 7, she paused. There was something odd about the way the page felt. She ran her fingers over it, noticing it was slightly thicker than the others.
Her heart raced. Was there something hidden inside?
Carefully, Lily peeled the edges of the page apart, revealing a small, folded piece of paper tucked between them. Her hands shook with excitement as she opened it. The paper was old, yellowed with age, and the writing was faded, but still readable.
"To those who seek,
Begin where words are born.
Look under the light that never fades."Lily's brow furrowed. This was a clue, and it was definitely part of Spencer's mystery. But what did it mean?
"Begin where words are born," she murmured to herself. "That must be the library. That's where books—and words—come from."
But what about the second part? "Look under the light that never fades." What kind of light never fades? She thought about the library again, imagining the shelves and the soft glow of the reading lamps.
And then it hit her: the library had an old, large chandelier that hung from the ceiling. It had been there as long as she could remember, its light always shining down on the rows of books below. That must be the "light that never fades."
Lily grinned, feeling a surge of excitement. She had to go back to the library.
